Call For Papers

Call for Contributions

Eclipse was initially designed as an integrated development environment (IDE) for object-oriented application development. Today Eclipse is an open source community whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle. This workshop is the eighth yearly meeting of the Italian Eclipse Community which includes universities, public institutions and industries, researchers and practitioners, students and professionals, all joined by the interest in promoting, experimenting, extending, and supporting the Eclipse platform.

This year the workshop focuses on:

** Cooperative software development for mobile applications **

Two tutorials are scheduled:

Sviluppo di applicazioni enterprise per il mobile con IBM Jazz, Eclipse e Worklight
dott. Ferdinando Gorga - IBM
Uso di Eclipse per lo sviluppo cooperativo del software
prof. Paolo Maresca - Università Federico II di Napoli

Submissions

* Research track *
This year the Community has decided to accept only scientific contributions in the form of fast abstracts: one or two pages in which the authors present their vision or their innovative techniques. Each presentation will last around 20-30 minutes. Best contributions will be considered for publication on the Journal of E-Learning and Knowledge. The long abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings (electronic version with ISBN).

Deadlines

15 July 2013: submission of the title and of a short abstract.
7 September 2013: submission of the complete abstract.

* Student track *

The Eclipse-IT 2013 Student track will be focused, but not restricted, to Eclipse Plug-in demos and RCP-based applications developed by undergraduate and graduate students within their thesis and/or computer science courses. A special session within the conference will be dedicated to demos, where students will present their work. For students who want to present their work, but do not have funding for attending the conference, we give the opportunity to send us a screencast showing the features of the application. The screencasts will be shown during the demo session on a dedicated PC; the students will be able to
answer to the questions of the participants of the conference through Skype.
Also a short abstract (1-2 pages) describing the application must be submitted. The abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings (electronic version with ISBN).

One award has been scheduled for the best students demo. The best student contribution will be awarded during the conference.

Deadlines

20 August 2013: submission of the application.
7 September 2013: submission of a short abstract describing the application.
