=== Call for Papers ===

Data about the activities of user across systems and applications and within a multitude of contexts are an enabler for access to personalized devices and services. Represented as attention metadata, such data can be collected from all applications that a user interacts with, including desktop applications, search engines, online shops, audio and video players, mobile and ubiquitous computers; all of these applications forming some type of sensor for user activities. The data, presumably describing user attention across contexts provides the (shared) bases for improvements of user interaction with services and devices. Its correlation provides the ability to generate new and improved functionality, e.g. the creation of dynamic user profiles, advanced task identification, personalized access to information and personalized information management, to name but a few. The advantages of such data are numerous, still research has not provided a suitable model to collect, represent, process and manage such data. Current advances like the Contextualized Attention Metadata Schema (CAM) or the Attention Profile Markup Language (APML) are still in their infancies. Furthermore, there is a need to bring the various involved research communities together to discuss and advance the understanding of attention metadata.
The workshop intends to bring together researchers and practitioners from relevant communities (information systems, personalization, ubiquitous computing, activity-driven computing, context-driven computing, information retrieval, database systems, digital libraries, metadata, data mining, user modelling, social networks, psychology and cognitive science, etc.) to share their knowledge, results and expertise about their research on attention metadata. In general, the workshop aims to foster and improve collaboration between communities, e.g. by discussing relevant cross-disciplinary research approaches for attention metadata. In more detail, the workshop aims to discuss suitable models, algorithms, techniques, technologies, architectures and designs to collect, merge and process attention metadata. And finally, the workshop aims to evaluate the current status and progress of work on attention metadata.

- Real-Time stream based attention metadata processing
- Management of attention metadata

- Privacy and security issues
- Access and rights management of attention metadata (who can do what and when with your attention metadata?)

=== Workshop Format ===

The workshop will be strongly discussion oriented. To that effect, all accepted papers will be made available online before the workshop and the presentations of the papers will be short. Presenters will be asked to focus on the comparison with related work presented in the workshop and beyond. Furthermore, presenters will be given the chance for the demonstration of early prototypes, so as to take maximum advantage of the added value of a face-to-face meeting.

=== Submissions ===

Authors are invited to submit original unpublished research as full papers (8 pages), work-in-progress as short papers (max. 4 pages) or demonstrations (max. 4 pages). All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by at least three members of the program committee for originality, significance, clarity and quality.
