CALL FOR CHAPTER PROPOSALS
Proposal Submission Deadline: July 30, 2013 Human Factors in Software Development and Design A book edited by Dr. Saqib Saeed (Bahria University Islamabad, Pakistan), Dr. Imran Sarwar Bajwa (Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan), and Dr. Zaigham Mahmood (University of Derby, UK) To be published by IGI Global: http://bit.ly/13fPLHR For release in the Advances in Systems Analysis, Software Engineering, and High Performance Computing (ASASEHPC) Book Series http://bit.ly/ZqX2r6 Introduction Software development is inherently a complex activity. Human aspects play an important role in software development. There is a strong need to understand "humans" involved in software development process estimation and team management are dependent on human factors and a deep understanding of obstacles and problems can help in improving these processes. This book will focus on bringing these inherent issues into the forefront to help practitioners in gaining maturity of their software development process. Extensive human involvement in software development has made humans an important stakeholder in the software process. Furthermore, due to emerging paradigms of end user development where end users also take up the role of software enhancement, the need for understanding human aspects has become more critical. The goal of this book is to provide an introduction to the fundamental human aspects in the software development process. Objective of the Book The aim of this book is to publish high quality original research contributions on the specialized theme of human factor in software development processes and to disseminate the elements of good practices suggested and employed by researchers and practitioners in this field. The focus of the proposed book is to consider all relevant aspects of software development processes in relation to implications for human cognitive limits. The objective is to come up with strategies to improve the software quality. A second focus is to bring the best practices and guidelines for technology design in this specialized area. Target Audience The book is intended for students and researchers working in the domain of software engineering. This book will also be helpful for software professionals working in the industry to employ best practices in their organizations. Furthermore, it will be a quite relevant resource for university libraries. Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following: • Software Development Environments • Software-Human Interaction • Learning Processes in SE • Code Inspections and Refactoring • Heuristics in Software Development • System Design and Tailorability • Technology Appropriation • End User Software Engineering Submission Procedure Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 30, 2013, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by July 15, 2013 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by October 30, 2013. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project. Publisher This book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global (formerly Idea Group Inc.), publisher of the “Information Science Reference” (formerly Idea Group Reference), “Medical Information Science Reference,” “Business Science Reference,” and “Engineering Science Reference” imprints.
