Call For Papers

First Call for Papers

Further to the first two successful and highly competitive Student Research Workshops associated with the conference 'Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing' (RANLP, in 2009 and 2011), we are pleased to announce the third edition of the workshop which will be held during the main RANLP 2013 conference days on 9-11 September 2013. For the second time the conference and the workshop will take place in Hissar, Bulgaria, which is a location worth to be visited.

The International Conference RANLP 2013 would like to invite students at all levels (Bachelor-, Master-, and PhD-students) to present their ongoing work at the Student Research Workshop. The aim of this workshop is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between young researchers by providing an excellent opportunity to present and discuss their work in progress or completed projects to an international research audience and receive feedback from senior researchers. The research being presented can come from any topic area within natural language processing and computational linguistics, including but not limited to the following topic areas:

phonetics, phonology, and morphology; syntax, semantics, discourse, pragmatics, dialogue, and lexicon; mathematical and statistical models and complexity; language resources and corpora; electronic dictionaries, terminologies and ontologies; POS tagging; parsing; semantic role labelling; word-sense disambiguation; textual entailment; anaphora resolution; generation; speech recognition; text-to-speech synthesis; multilingual NLP; machine translation, translation memory systems and computer-aided translation tools, text simplification and readability estimation; knowledge acquisition; information retrieval; text categorisation; information extraction; text summarisation; term extraction; question answering; opinion mining; dialogue systems; computer-aided language learning; NLP for biomedical texts; NLP for the Semantic web; and theoretical and application-orientated papers related to NLP.

Papers at the borderline between two sciences (such as Translation Studies, Linguistics and Psycholinguistics), but bearing application to NLP will be also accepted for review. All accepted papers will be presented at the Student Workshop sessions during the main conference days: 9-11 September 2013. The articles will be issued in a special Student Session proceedings and uploaded to the ACL Anthology.

Important dates

Submission deadline: 20 May 2013 24:00 Pacific Time
Acceptance notification: 16 July 2013
Camera-ready deadline: 9 August 2013

A link to the conference management system will be available on the workshop website. For format requirements please refer to the main RANLP website, Submission Guidelines Section. Each submission will be reviewed by 3 reviewers from the Programme Committee, who will feature experienced researchers from all areas of NLP. The final decisions will be made based on these reviews. The submissions will have to specify the student's level (Bachelor-, Master-, or PhD). All authors of the articles must be students. Submission with non-student authors will not be considered for review.

The list of Programme Committee members will be announced in the second Call for Papers.
