CALL FOR PAPERS
International Congress on Cardiovascular Technologies - CARDIOTECHNIX 2013 Website: http://www.cardiotechnix.org September 19 - 21, 2013 Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal Important Deadlines: Regular Papers Extended Abstract Submission and Complete Paper Submission: April 24, 2013 Authors Notification: June 17, 2013 Final Submission and Registration: July 8, 2013 Sponsored by: INSTICC - Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication Technology has been essential for the advancement in cardiology diagnostic and treatment since the first accurate recording of the electrocardiogram and its development as a clinical tool in 1895, also the year of the discovery of X-rays by W.K.Röntgen, followed by ultrasound application for medical diagnosis by Dussik in 1941, and many other technologies. In the XXI century significant advances continue to be witnessed even more frequently and it seems evident that there is a very high potential of improving healthcare quality by combining medical knowledge in the area of cardiology with engineering technologies, especially those derived from communications, electronics and informatics. This conference intends to be a meeting point of both academics and practitioners, in order to promote the exchange ideas and developed synergies. Authors are invited to submit reports on their research work that highlight new advancements on the use of cardiac technologies either in general or regarding a particular case or application. New ideas on how to approach cardiac monitoring, diagnosis and treatment challenges and issues, using electronics, telecommunications or informatics, will arise from the conference. Papers describing case studies, advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are encouraged. Papers should describe original work in any of the areas listed below. Accepted papers, presented at the conference by one of the authors, will be published in the Proceedings of Cardiotechnix, with ISBN, both on paper and digital support. All presented papers will be indexed and included in the SCITEPRESS digital library for increased visibility. Acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. Both full research reports and work-in-progress reports are welcome. There will be both oral and poster sessions. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS CARDIOTECHNIX 2013 will have several invited keynote speakers, who are internationally recognized experts in their areas. Their names are not yet confirmed. AWARDS Best paper awards will be distributed during the conference closing session. Please check the website for further information (http://www.cardiotechnix.org/BestPaperAward.aspx). Congress Areas Each of these topic areas is expanded below but the sub-topics list is not exhaustive. Papers may address one or more of the listed sub-topics, although authors should not feel limited by them. Unlisted but related sub-topics are also acceptable, provided they fit in one of the following main topic areas: 1. CARDIOVASCULAR IMAGING AND CARDIOGRAPHY 2.
