Special Session on
Evolutionary Computation for Hydro-Electric Power Systems Optimization In conjunction with 2013 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence Applications in Smart Grid (CIASG 2013) & 2013 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (IEEE SSCI) http://www.ntu.edu.sg/home/epnsugan/index_files/SSCI2013/index.html April 15- 19, 2013 (Singapore) This special session will attempt to bring together researchers and practitioners to a common platform and will create a forum to discuss the latest development in hydro-electric power systems optimization. Contributions related, but not limited, to the applications of evolutionary computing algorithms like genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization, differential evolution, etc in the following topics of hydro-electric power systems are welcome: Reservoir system optimization Hydro-energy storage Hydro-thermal scheduling Hydro-power system planning Hydro-power system control Hydro-power plant control Hydro-power system protection including generator and transmission lines protection Hybrid energy systems like hydro-wind, hydro-solar, etc Networked control of electric generators Hydro-power system automation Distributed generation application Reactive power compensation Submission guidelines Papers are invited from prospective authors with interests in this particular special session and related areas of applications. All contributions should be original and not published elsewhere or intended to be published during the review period. Details of the required paper format are published at the official SSCI 2013 website: http://www.ntu.edu.sg/home/epnsugan/index_files/SSCI2013/index.html To submit a paper to this session, please select "04s2" as the main research topic. Publications: The conference proceedings of the IEEE SSCI have always been included in the IEEE Xplore and indexed by all other important databases. For example, the proceedings of the IEEE SSCI 2011 (held in Paris) have already been included in the IEEE Xplore and indexed by databases such as EI, SCOPUS, etc. Travel grants: The IEEE CIS will offer a limited number of travel grants for Students and travel grants for Researchers from Developing Countries who are presenting a paper at an IEEE CIS-sponsored conference. Applicants must have both IEEE and IEEE CIS memberships and their submissions must have received overall good reviews. More information is available from the travel grants webpage. Important Dates Paper Submission: 10th November, 2012 Notification of acceptance: 5th January, 2013 Camera-ready of accepted papers: 5th February, 2013 Registration of authors of accepted papers: 5th February, 2013 Conference: April 15-19, 2013 Organizers Dr. Thanga Raj Chelliah, Assistant Professor of Hydro-Electric Systems, Water Resources Development and Management Dept., Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, Uttrakhand -247667.
