Call For Papers

The future cyber-age networked infrastructures starting from objects, furniture, appliances, homes, buildings and extending to campuses, cars, roads and cities are extremely likely to be reliant on sensors embedded in the infrastructure including intelligent mobile devices. This will give rise to a new dimension of connectivity and services and is also termed as the Internet of Things (IoT). Such technologies will act as a catalyst to the evolution of a new generation of services that will have a great impact on the social and technological eco-system. It can be envisaged that these next generation systems and services will encompass several domains such as e-Governance, Health Care, Transportation, Waste Management, Food Supply Chains, Energy & Utilities, Insurance etc. New technologies and applications built on top of them must be developed in order to fulfil this vision of Intelligent Infrastructure.

The First International Workshop on Building "Intelligence" for Intelligent Infrastructure using Internet-of-Things (BI4T) will be co-hosted with ICDCN 2013. It intends to provide an inter-disciplinary platform for researchers to share their ideas and results and discuss the issues pertinent with the signal and data processing required on the sensor data collected to make the infrastructure "intelligent".

The workshop will be a full day event comprising of invited talks from distinguished researchers in the field, followed by selected technical paper presentations and a panel discussion of eminent contributors from this emerging field. A list of topics for paper submissions to this workshop are mentioned below. Authors are encouraged to submit position papers, surveys, research outcomes, experiments & results and deployments in the following areas -

Sensor Signal Processing: Challenges in sensor signal processing using low power devices, Sensor data reduction methodologies, Intelligent data sampling and compressed sensing, Sensor Data Disaggregation, Domain-specific sensor signal processing (camera, microphone, location, environmental sensors, bio sensors etc.)

Big Data Analytics: Storage and management of big data in Intelligent Infrastructures, Real-time analytics on sensor data, Visual Analytics, Statistical Analytics, Big Data Architectures

Author Instructions:

Papers should be a maximum of 6 pages, including title, abstract, figures and references, in ACM conference proceedings format (, not published elsewhere and not currently under review by another conference or journal. Submissions deviating from these guidelines will not be reviewed. Papers should be submitted via the EasyChair submission management System ( Workshop proceedings will be published in ACM Digital Library and some selected papers will be considered for publication in CSI Journal of Computing.

At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper. In addition, no-shows of accepted papers at the workshop will result in those papers NOT being included in the proceedings.
