“Special Issue on Information Fusion in Smart Living”
Editor-in-Chief: Dr. Belur V. Dasarathy, FIEEE
The Information Fusion Journal is planning a special issue devoted to Information Fusion in Smart Living. It aims to investigate the smart living applications and innovations around the Living Labs. A Living Lab means a user-centric research methodology for sensing, prototyping, validating and refining complicated solutions in real life experiences or situations. The smart living could be realized and intended to be a large-scale living lab experiment for many novel technologies and smart-living services, involving many people with these services, and then transforming these services and enriched experience to enabling relevant eco-systems. However, there are still many challenging problems in improving the architectures and algorithms of smart living technologies employing information fusion concepts and techniques, and new problems are also emerging with new applications. Therefore, the issue will explore how individuals or companies can gain benefits by using smart living technologies in real-world settings through exploitation of information fusion technologies. It will also encourage research that uses empirical studies to present the fundamental theory, techniques, applications and practical experiences in the context of designing, implementing or evaluating the Living Labs that take advantage of advances in information fusion domain.
Manuscripts (which should be original and not previously published either in full or in part or presented even in a more or less similar form at any other forum) covering the latest developments, trends, industrial applications and management challenges for smart living technologies are invited. The role of information fusion should be significant and clearly demonstrated in the manuscript. Absolutely no cut and pastes from prior publications (of text and/or figures or tables or other illustrations) will be permitted. All such reproduced material should be excluded by generous use of citations to the relevant prior publications wherever necessary within the text of the Journal submission. The manuscript will be judged solely on the basis of new contributions excluding the contributions made in earlier publications. Contributions should be described in sufficient detail to be reproducible on the basis of the material presented in the paper and the references cited therein.
This special issue aims to advance our understanding of the emerging or already more mature research challenges at the cross point of the different areas mentioned. Such understanding will help academics and practitioners to explore new directions and generate knowledge and solutions towards information fusion in smart living.
Topics appropriate for this special issue include, but are not necessarily limited to:
•Adaptive fusion system architectures
•Business, service and billing approaches
•Cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
•Design, implementation and evaluation of smart applications
•Embedding device and system
•Information & communication technology (ICT)
•Information security and privacy
•Internet of things (IOT)
•Smart city control platforms
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically online at http://ees.elsevier.com/inffus The corresponding author will have to create a user profile if one has not been established before at Elsevier.
