Calls for Papers (special): International Journal of Systems Biology and Biomedical Technologies (IJSBBT)
Special Issue On: Modeling of Biomedical Systems Guest Editors Asst. Prof. Ahmad Taher Azar, Misr University for Science & Technology, Egypt Prof. Laura M. Roa Romero, Biomedical Engineering Group, Engineering School of the University of Seville, Seville, Spain Introduction Biomedical modeling is a growing and important applications area receiving significant interest as a result of the medical impact of its applications. It’s a highly interdisciplinary since it encompasses various aspects of several different disciplines (e.g., computer engineering, computer science, electronics, system automation, physiology, biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, material sciences, telemedicine, etc.). Interdisciplinary and synergistic interactions among these various disciplines are key aspects of biomedical modeling applications. Objective The objective of this special issue is to showcase the most recent developments and research in the field "Biomedical Modeling", as well as enhance its state-of-the-art. This special issue solicits original, full-length original articles on new findings and developments from researchers, academicians, and practitioners from industry in the areas of modeling and simulation of biomedical systems. Recommended Topics Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following: Application of soft computing techniques to clinical decision making Bioinformatics and computational biology Biomaterials design and tissue engineering Biomechanics and artificial organs Biomedical imaging, pattern recognition and visualization Biomedical modeling Biomedical signal processing Biosensors Brain research and brain computer interfaces Computer-based systems for diagnosing diseases Computer modeling of physiologic systems (blood pressure control, renal function, visual and auditory nervous circuits, etc.) Data mining Healthcare information systems Medical instrumentation Rehabilitation, external support devices, etc. Telemedicine Submission Procedure Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special theme issue on Modeling of Biomedical Systems on or before July 31, 2012. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL’S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at http://www.igi-global.com/Files/AuthorEditor/guidelinessubmission.pdf. All submitted papers will be reviewed on a double-blind, peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for reference citations. Manuscripts must be sent electronically to ahmad_t_azar@ieee.org with the subject title of “Special Issue – IJSBBT” as a Word document.
