Call For Papers

=== ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing (SoCC) 2012 Call for Papers ===

October 14-17, 2012 San Jose, California, USA ;

The ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing 2012 (ACM SoCC 2012) will be the third in a new series of symposia that brings together researchers, developers, users, and practitioners interested in cloud computing. ACM SoCC is co-sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Groups on Management of Data (SIGMOD) and on Operating Systems (SIGOPS). In the past, SoCC has been held in conjunction with the ACM SIGMOD and ACM SOSP Conferences in alternative years. In 2012, SoCC is growing up: It will be held on its own for the first time and the setting will be Silicon Valley.

Topics of Interest

The scope of SoCC Symposia is broad and encompasses diverse systems topics such as software as a service, virtualization, and scalable cloud data services. Many facets of systems and data management issues must be revisited in the context of cloud computing. Suggested topics for paper submissions include but are not limited to:

* Administrative and Manageability
* Data Privacy
* Data Services Architectures
* Distributed and Parallel Query Processing
* Energy Management
* Distribution and Cloud Networking
* High Availability and Reliability
* Infrastructure Technologies
* Large Scale Cloud Applications
* Multi-Tenancy
* Programming Models
* Provisioning and Metering
* Resource Management and Performance
* Scientific Data Management
* Security of Services
* Service Level Agreements
* Storage Architectures
* Transactional Models
* Virtualization Technologies

Important Dates

* June 8 Abstracts due
* June 15 Papers due
* September 3 Accepted papers notified
* September 28 Camera ready copy due
* October 14-17 Conference

Manuscripts should be submitted in PDF and formatted in 10-point type using the ACM camera-ready templates available at:

A submission to the symposium may be one of the following types: (a) Research papers: We seek papers on original research work in the broad area of cloud computing. The length of research papers is limited to fourteen pages. (b) Industrial papers: The symposium is also a forum for high-quality industrial presentations on innovative cloud computing platforms, applications, and experiences on deployed systems. Submissions for industrial papers may be up to fourteen pages long, though shorter papers (e.g., seven pages) will also be considered. (c) Vision papers: Can be up to seven pages in length, and can be speculative, although should nonetheless articulate an interesting and well-reasoned argument. All SoCC submissions will be evaluated based on their originality, technical merit, topical relevance, and likelihood of leading to insightful technical discussions at the symposium. All paper submissions will be due by midnight PST on Friday, June 15, 2012. Abstracts will be required and will be due one week in advance, by midnight PST on Friday, June 8, 2012.
