We are specifically seeking submissions dealing with leading-edge Kernel development; embedded application development including but not limited to Android application development as well as desktop and server infrastructure applications and middleware. We are seeking content aimed at technical people, developers, administrators and high-end users from very low level detailed analysis to high-level how-to tutorials to help keep up with the latest and greatest in the Free Software ecosystem.


# Sessions

Our session slots are each 45 minutes long followed by a 15 minute break period to promote social networking during the event. We are looking for a diverse array of contribution.

For Summits and Working Groups we provide space and resources to a summit organizer who then handles the internal organization to best suit the needs of their specific target group.

With Technical presentations the author or authors of technical papers have the time to present their research and have their papers included in the conference proceedings; for 2012 the submission of the formal paper is optional.

Tutorials are intended to be more practical sessions with the goal of providing an educational experience and can extend over multiple session slots.

We also allocate time for a series of Lightning Talks which are 10 minute presentations on a variety of content from status updates to quick tutorials where slides are optional and no paper is required (but will be accepted) for the proceedings.

Bird of a Feather Sessions are free-form 1 hour meetings for people of similar interests to get together and discuss a particular topic. If you are hosting a BoFS you will also need to register to attend as usual.

# What and how to Submit a Proposal
To have your content considered to be included into the Linux Symposium programme you will need to submit a proposal to the review committee. Your proposal or Abstract should be between 250 and 300 words in length, checked for grammar and spelling and you should be prepared to have it appear on the website as the description of your sessions content. You will also need to submit a short 150 word biography explaining who you are and why your feel you're best able to address your content, this will also be posted on the website and included in the event printed materials.

# Deadlines
The official Proposal submission period is from March 15th until April 15th.

# Committee Review
The review committee does it's best to review and send out notifications as quickly as possible.

Final papers must be submitted and ready for publication by June 1st.


# Publication Rights
The conference requires non-exclusive publication rights to submitted papers including the publication of audio and video proceedings. Copyright is retained by the author. We do ask that we be the first organisation to publish any given paper.
