Second ACM SIGMOD Workshop on Databases and Social Networks
(DBSocial 2012)
Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
May 20, 2012

The Second ACM SIGMOD Workshop on Databases and Social Networks, to be held
in Scottsdale, Arizona in conjunction with SIGMOD/PODS 2012, is a venue for
database research applied to the problems of extraction, querying, and
analysis of social networks. DBSocial aims at disseminating results founded
on database research and practice that advance the state-of-the-art in the
observation, management, and analysis of inherently networked data
originating primarily from social phenomena.

DBSocial welcomes both theoretical and practical papers whose approaches
are within the scope of databases and very closely related areas (e.g.,
data mining and information retrieval), and whose validation are on par
with the high standards in the database community.

Applications of classical database research themes within the domain
of social networks:

* Data Modeling
* Query languages and processing
* Information extraction and search
* Data integration and cleaning
* Privacy and access control
* Performance and benchmarking

Emerging topics that originate from this application domain:

* Social search
* Extraction and curation of social networks
* Visualization and exploration of large networks
* Novel data mining and analysis techniques for understanding
social phenomena
* Platforms and algorithms for crowdsourced data

Papers submission deadline: March 12 (5PM PST), 2012
Authors notification: April 5, 2012
Camera-ready due: April 22, 2012
Workshop: May 20, 2012
