* * * CALL FOR ABSTRACTS * * * IEEE/ION PLANS 2027 Position Location and Navigation Symposium April 12 - 15, 2027 | Portland, Oregon, USA https://www.ion.org/plans/call-for-abstracts.cfm ====== ABOUT IEEE/ION PLANS 2027 We are pleased to welcome you to the IEEE/ION PLANS 2027 conference. Jointly sponsored by the IEEE and the Institute of Navigation (ION), PLANS is a premier biennial technical conference dedicated to the latest advances in positioning, location, and navigation technologies. CONFERENCE TRACKS The conference features four main technical tracks for abstract submission: • TRACK A: Inertial Sensing and Technology • TRACK B: Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) • TRACK C: Integrated and Opportunistic Navigation • TRACK D: Applications of Positioning Technologies *** SPECIAL HIGHLIGHT: TRACK D - AI & MACHINE LEARNING FOR PNT *** While we welcome submissions across all tracks, we encourage submissions to the "AI and Machine Learning for PNT" session within Track D. This session focuses on foundational and applied artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques designed to augment positioning, navigation, and timing architectures across the space, air, surface, and sub-surface domains. Topics of interest for this highlighted session include: • Advanced algorithms for state estimation, robust data fusion, system identification, and anomaly or fault detection. • Development of integrity assurance frameworks, explainability, and certification pathways for AI-driven multi-sensor integrated navigation systems. • Leveraging big data analytics, physics-enhanced methods, or deep, reinforcement, active, and machine learning (DRAML) to support guidance and autonomous operations. • Current implementations, future visions, and critical challenges of deploying data-driven models in safety-critical autonomous navigation. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Abstracts should describe objectives, anticipated or actual results, conclusions, any key innovative steps, and the significance of your work. All authors attending the meeting are required to pay registration fees and must present in person at the conference; no virtual presentation options will be made available. Please submit your abstract via the Abstract Management Portal (AMP): https://www.ion.org/abstracts/ IMPORTANT DATES • Abstract Submission Deadline: October 16, 2026 • Notification of Acceptance: Late November 2026 • Final Manuscripts Due: February 1, 2027 • Author Corrections/Revisions Deadline: April 23, 2027 • Conference Dates: April 12 - 15, 2027 COMMITTEE & CHAIRS • Program Chair: Dr. Fabio Dovis, Politecnico di Torino • Track D Chair: Dr. Ali Abdallah, Google • AI & ML Session Chairs: Dr. Erik Blasch (Air Force Office of Scientific Research) & Dr. Tobias Feigl (Google / FAU) |
