Call for Chapters: Share the Heat Story of Your City
Book Introduction
As the global climate crisis intensifies, extreme heat has emerged as the deadliest weather-related hazard, transformed into a "silent killer" by the concrete and asphalt of our expanding metropolises. Urban Heat Actions of 100 Global Cities provides a definitive, cross-sectional analysis of how the world’s most vulnerable urban centers are fighting back.
Moving beyond theoretical warnings, this book documents tangible strategies—ranging from massive reforestation and "cool" infrastructure to innovative policy frameworks—deployed by a diverse cohort of 100 cities. By synthesizing local data with global trends, this work serves as both a critical record of contemporary urban resilience and a practical roadmap for municipal leaders, urban planners, and activists worldwide. In an era of record-breaking temperatures, these 100 stories offer a blueprint for building cooler, more equitable, and more livable cities for the future.

Book Aims and Objectives
We invite researchers to contribute "action stories" that document efforts to enhance mitigation, adaptation, and management capabilities in the face of urban heat. We seek insights across diverse expertise, including:
Policy & Governance: Policy formulation, economic investment models, and human resource management.
Assessment & Awareness: Heat risk assessment, public awareness campaigns, and educational outreach.
Tactical Solutions: Early warning systems, innovative mitigation technologies, and adaptive design strategies.
We specifically encourage contributors to develop a systematic framework for their respective cities. The goal is to distill complex data into implementable, tangible actions that provide a clear roadmap for researchers, policymakers, urban planners, designers, and engineers.
By documenting these experiences, we aim to facilitate a global knowledge exchange—sharing proven strategies across continents and borders—while simultaneously identifying local shortcomings and defining future directions for urban heat action.
