Call For Papers

Call for Papers for the Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Resource-Constrained Devices within the PAAMS'12 Conference Salamanca, 28th - 30th March, 2012 http://www.paams.net/ARCD12/

NEW DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS - 17th November 2011

A Thematic Issue in the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments (IOS Press) will be edited. JCR Impact Factor: 1.5.

The concept of the Internet of Things refers to a world with plenty of small autonomous devices capable of acting autonomously and cooperating with the rest in a seamless and flexible manner. In such a world, there is a need to give special attention to a number of heterogeneous platforms and execution environments with special needs and limitation. It is clear that artificial intelligence techniques may help in the engineering process of developing applications and services for the Internet of Things, and specially to such specific hardware. The purpose of the ARCD workshop is to foster discussion about the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies in the scope of resource-constrained devices such as embedded systems, sensors, and hand held devices like PDAs or smart phones. Artificial intelligence techniques considered interesting are those concerned with -Automatic Reasoning -Machine Learning -Intelligent Agents and Multi-Agent Systems -Ontology technology -Intelligent control -Management of uncertainty and vagueness of information -Soft Computing among others, and the areas of applications refer to -Activities of daily living -Coordination mechanism for distributed decision taking -Context aware computing -Ubiquitous computing -Resource aware computing among others.

We are looking for theoretical and practical contributions related with new designs, programming tools and applications of the mentioned technologies within the scope of these devices.

SUBMISSION

All papers must be formatted according to the Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing Series Springer template, with a maximum length of 8 pages, including figures and references.

A template can be downloaded from Springer's Author Centre. All proposed papers must be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) using the Conference management system.

ARCD welcomes the submission of application papers with a preference for the topics listed in the call for papers. All submitted papers will undergo a thorough review process; each paper will be refereed by at least three experts in the field based on relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity.

Accepted papers will be included in PAAMS 2012 Proceedings, published in the Advances in Intelligent and Soft-Computing series of Springer.

At least one of the authors will be required to register and attend the symposium to present the paper in order to include the paper in the conference proceedings. All accepted papers will be published by Springer Verlag.
