Dear colleagues,
We invite you to submit your research to the “Artificial Intelligence-based Assistants and Platforms” minitrack of HICSS-58, Hawaii, January 7-10, 2025. Since 2021 this minitrack has emerged as the platform for research on AI-based assistants and platforms, such as speech-based assistants like Alexa as well as text-based assistants like ChatGPT. If you are pursuing research in these areas, please consider submitting a paper. You will find all relevant information below as well as on the conference webpage: Please note that the minitrack has a record of fast-track papers in the collection: "AI-based assistants and platforms" in the journal Electronic Markets (https://link.springer.com/collections/jibdjaebdf ), which has again been organized for HICSS 2025. Minitrack Theme The Artificial Intelligence-based Assistants and Platforms minitrack, aims to deepen, and broaden our understanding of AI-based technologies in the digital economy. Since 2021, this HICSS minitrack seeks to advance academic discourse by focusing on specific, cutting-edge topics. Compared to other minitracks on AI development, the AI-based assistants and platforms minitrack explicitly focuses on assistants from an interdisciplinary perspective. This not only comprises technological aspects, but also their holistic impact from socio-technical implications to the potential in reshaping industries and in enhancing digital business models. We encourage submissions that blend theory with practice, offering insights into real-world applications and societal impacts of these technologies. We are particularly invite submissions that delve into specific challenges of AI-assistants, such as algorithmic bias, transparency, explanations, user privacy, and their sustainable integration in healthcare, education, and other sectors. 2. Minitrack Topics The AI-based assistants and platforms minitrack seeks contributions around the following topics, but also invites research on related topics: - Business models and business innovation based on AI-based assistants and platforms - Analyses of AI-based platform ecosystems (structure, ecosystem intelligence) - Impact of AI-based assistants and platforms on economic, ecological and social aspects - Evolution and emergence in AI-based assistant ecosystems (mechanisms, path dependencies) - Role of advanced technologies (agents, metaverse, LLM, quantum) for AI-based assistants - Design, implementation, and management of AI-based assistants (methods, architectures) - Human centricity, transparency and user-orientation in AI-based assistants and platforms - Regulation of AI-based assistants and platforms (ethics, bias mitigation, governance) - Integration of assistants and platforms (multi-platforms and platform federation) - Security and trust in AI-based assistants and platforms (risks, privacy, and trust issues) - Implications of AI-based assistants on productivity and the future workplace and human-AI interaction - Application of AI-based assistant platforms in various industries (e-health, education, engineering, finance, administration) The AI-based assistants and platforms minitrack is methodologically open and welcomes empirical and theoretical research as well as practical and design-oriented research. 3.
