*****************************************************************************

We are pleased to announce the 19th edition of the Spanish Conference on Science and Service Engineering (Jornadas de Ciencia e Ingeniería de Servicios, JCIS 2024) that will be held in A Coruña in June 2024, as part of the Spanish Congress of Informatics (Congreso Español de Informática, CEDI).

GOAL
****************************************
Over the last few years, software services have emerged as a key factor in the growth of any developed economy. This fact has encouraged a great interest in the different economic actors to develop a "Science of Services". In this sense, University, Industry and Administration aim to create principles, knowledge, methods and techniques to articulate and express their respective responsibilities and activities around the service concept.

The Spanish Conference on Science and Service Engineering (JCIS), which this year celebrates its 19th edition, is a forum for dissemination, discussion and exchange of knowledge and experiences open to the different actors involved. The focus is not only on new scientific advances, but also on existing technologies in service-oriented computing and business processes, new service engineering practices and lessons learned through real experiences and case studies. In this context, JCIS brings together communities related to the following areas of interest:
- Service Engineering.
- Web Engineering.
- Business Processes.
- Cloud Computing and Services.
- Internet of Things.
- Pervasive Systems.
- Quantum Computing in Services
- Secure Software and Blockchain.
- Health services and Gerontechnology

Within these areas of interest, the conference will focus on the following topics:
- Fundamentals of service and/or process-oriented systems.
- Formal methods and algorithms in service science and engineering.
- Concepts, languages, and architectures for service science and engineering.
- Proofs of concept, case studies, or prototypes focused on service engineering.
- Design of service and/or process-oriented information systems.
- Empirical and reproducible evaluations of service and/or process-oriented information systems.
- Experiences of application of service engineering in organizations.
- Experiences of transferring service science and engineering techniques to industry.
- Use or advancement of service and/or process-oriented methodologies to support innovation and digital transformation.
- Industry challenges for service engineering.
- Application of service science to improve organizational strategy.
- Societal challenges in any of the conference areas of interest.

TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS
****************************************
The types of contributions that can be sent to this edition of the conference, in Spanish or English, include:

- Long papers. This modality is mainly aimed at researchers who want to inform the community about the course of their research so that they can obtain orientation and establish collaborations with researchers doing related work. Articles in this modality should be 8 to 10 pages long in SISTEDES format (https://github.com/sistedes/sistedes.template).

- Short papers. This modality includes (i) Work in progress, (ii) Reflections/Positioning Statements, (iii) Demonstrations of tools, (iv) R&D projects, and (v) Contracts with companies. The objective is to present projects or incipient works, reflections that encourage debate, or developed tools related to one of the areas of interest of the conference. The articles in this modality should have an extension of 3 to 4 pages in SISTEDES format (https://github.com/sistedes/sistedes.template). Demonstrations should include a link to a demonstration video and will be required to be presented during the conference.

- Business experiences. This type of contribution is oriented to companies interested in transmitting to the community problems, experiences, and/or solutions applied in the areas of interest of the conferences. These problems and/or experiences can serve as a bridge of collaboration between academia and business. Articles in this modality should be 1 to 2 pages long and briefly summarize the experience in SISTEDES format (https://github.com/sistedes/sistedes.template).

- Papers already published. Following the principles of CoARA (https://coara.eu/coalition/guiding-principles/), relevant papers published in first-level journals or congresses between January 2022 and the date of the end of receipt of contributions, which have not been previously submitted or are under review in SISTEDES, are requested. The aim is twofold: to publicize these papers within the conference and offer them as a guide to the rest of the community. Relevant papers are understood as, for example, those published in journals or congresses indexed in the first categories of the main classifications, or with a high number of citations, or any other indicator that allows contrasting the quality of the work. An article will be considered published when it is available through its DOI. An abstract of one page maximum is required, following the SISTEDES format (https://github.com/sistedes/sistedes.template), indicating the title, authors, and a summary of the contribution, as well as the reference to the original publication. A digital copy of the publication should also be included. Only the abstract will be published in the conference proceedings book.

To avoid violating copyright, papers submitted must be significantly different from those already published in other forums. Papers will be formally reviewed for relevance, originality, technical quality, and appropriateness to the conference themes.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
****************************************
The full conference proceedings will be published in electronic format (https://biblioteca.sistedes.es/community-list), with ISBN and legal deposit. To facilitate the dissemination of the papers through their inclusion in the digital library of SISTEDES and other university repositories, authors of accepted contributions will be asked to grant them a Creative Commons (CC) licence. Authors may choose any of the six existing CC licences (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/), but the organisation recommends the use of the “CC BY” licence.

The authors of the best papers will receive a diploma in recognition of their contribution.

Submission deadline: February 2nd, 2024
Notification to authors: March 15th, 2024
Camera-ready reception: March 29th, 2024
