Computer Networks, the leading journal in the field of computer and communication networks, invites submissions for a special issue on “Computing Continuum and Federated Learning for Smart Cities.” This special issue aims to showcase the latest research advances and applications of computing continuum and federated learning in the context of smart cities, which are emerging as a promising paradigm to address the challenges of data privacy, network heterogeneity, resource constraints, and scalability in urban environments.

The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- 6G and beyond network architecture for smart cities
- Network function virtualization (NFV) in the context of IoT services for smart cities
- ML and AI for enabling real-time IoT services for smart cities
- Network management in smart cities
- Opportunistic networks for supporting IoT Services in smart cities
- Application of distributed clouds to smart cities services.
- Models for context-aware crowdsensing techniques at urban-level scale.
- Cloud-to-Thing continuum.
- Edge data center deployment in urban environments.
- ML- and AI-based approaches cloud/edge-based smart city applications.
- AI-driven models, architectures, and frameworks for edge computing.
- Design and evaluation tools for scalability and efficient resource allocation in smart cities.

The submission deadline is *October 20th, 2023*. Manuscripts should follow the Computer Networks journal format and be submitted through the EditorialManager online submission system:
