GOALS:
ISIFE is an international workshop in a virtual form that focuses on the challenges of the digitization procedures in the field of forensic engineering, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques. Forensic engineering is related to the application of techniques and methods to serve justice, which require the cognitive analysis of large volumes of different types of data, including documents, videos, audios and images. AI can be employed in different tasks related to forensic engineering, such as DNA evidence, pattern recognition, crime scene reconstruction, digital forensics, image analysis and processing, psycho/narco-analysis, ballistics, and satellite monitoring. Intelligent systems, thanks to the use of reasoning-based algorithms, machine and deep learning, knowledge representation techniques, data discovery and analysis, computer vision methods, document classification and recognition algorithms and cybersecurity, can provide a clear advantage in forensic investigations, reducing the errors that may occur due to cognitive bias. ISIFE is part of the research activity of the National Research Project: Organizational models and digital innovation: the new Office for the process for the system efficiency Justice/MOD-UPP within the framework of the PON Governance and Institutional Capacity 2014-2020, owned by the Italian Ministry of Justice. TOPICS: List of topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: -Intelligent systems for analysis of forensic documents -Cybersecurity methods based on AI -Machine learning for network forensics -Events and data analysis methods -AI for file fragment classification -Deep learning and machine learning for image, acoustic and video forensics -Intelligent digitization procedures of forensic documents -Pattern recognition for firearm identification -AI methods for privacy and copyright infringement -Reasoning-based intelligent systems in forensic procedures -AI for data storage, digitization and retrieval in forensic structural engineering -Explainability, verifiability, safety and robustness of AI systems ORGANIZING COMMITTEE -Alessia Amelio -Samuele Biondi -Regina Finocchiaro -Luciano Caroprese -Samantha Di Loreto -Sergio Montelpare University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, InGeo, Italy PROGRAM COMMITTEE -Antonio Teti, DEA, University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy -Cezara Benegui, University of Bucharest, Romania -Christian Morbidoni, DEA, University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy -Ester Zumpano, DIMES, University of Calabria, Italy -Fabio Fioravanti, DEA, University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy -Gianluca Bellomo, DSGS, University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy -Irum Feroz, Northeastern University London, UK -Melania D’Angelosante, DSGS, University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy -Michele Ianni, DIMES, University of Calabria, Italy -Nadeem Ahmad, University of Central Punjab, Pakistan -Radu Tudor Ionescu, University of Bucharest, Romania -Roberto Martino, DSGS, University “G. d’Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara, Italy PAPERS SUBMISSION instructions can be found at the following link.
