Call For Papers

The therapeutic connection between music, sound and the mind is a promising but extremely complex subject. This international trans-disciplinary symposium seeks to create a bridge across the borders of professional and academic specialty. Drawing from the worlds of archaeoacoustics, music anthropology, neuroscience and psychology, the symposium explores the vast potential of audio neural stimulation therapy as a non-invasive drug-free alternative in the treatment of some of the 21st century's greatest challenges in mental health. Substance addiction and depression head a list of disorders and ailments that are affected in the cerebral cortex and are subject to response to factors of music and sound.

To make use of the enormous promise of using music for improving mental health, we must first understand the effect of sound.

The Foundations of Music and Sound Therapy for Recovery symposium welcomes contributions from researchers, scholars, therapists and technologists working across diverse disciplines, sites and practices.

Our goals:
share knowledge & clarify practices
explore inter-relationships
define methodologies
introduce applications

250-300 word abstracts of papers, presentations and posters should be submitted in English, in either Text, Word or PDF formats. The DEADLINE for abstract submissions is November 30, 2022. A second Call may be made after that time if all presentation slots have not yet been filled. Submitters will be informed by mid December 2022. (NOTE: Symposium dates are projected and still subject to slight change.)
