SSCt 2023 : Sustainable Smart Cities and Territories International Conference
Call For Papers
It is expected that the world's population will reach 9.7 billion in 2050. By then, two-thirds of the population will live in urban environments. Critical social and ecological challenges that cities will face include urban violence, inequality, discrimination, unemployment, poverty, unsustainable energy and water use, epidemics, pollution, environmental degradation, and increased risks of natural disasters. The concept of smart cities, born in the early 2000s, attempts to provide solutions to these challenges by implementing information and communication technologies. The initial concept of smart cities focused on the modernization of megacities. However, most of the so-called smart cities are just cities with several smart projects. The most promising trend is the creation of smart micro-territories, defined as hi-tech small towns, districts or satellite towns near megacities. With the current availability of enormous amount of data, the challenge is to identify intelligent and adaptive ways of combining the information to create valuable knowledge. Sensorization has played a fundamental role in the collection of data, which, once analyzed in IoT and smart cities platforms, has allowed for the optimization of multiple decisions regarding governance and resource consumption optimization. SSCt2023 is the International Conference on Sustainable Smart Cities and Territories, an open symposium which brings together researchers and developers from academia and industry to present and discuss the latest scientific and technical advances in the fields of Smart Cities and Smart Territories. It will promote an environment for discussion on how techniques, methods, and tools help system designers to accomplish the transition from the current cities towards those we need in a changing world. Brand new ideas will be greatly appreciated as well as relevant revisions and actualizations of previously presented work, project summaries and PhD thesis. The SSCt2023 program will include keynote addresses, a main technical track, a workshop program and doctoral consortium.
The topics of interest for the SSCt2023 conference include, but are not limited to,
- Smart cities and smart territories successful cases and challenges;

CALL FOR WORKSHOPS PROPOSALS
The SSCt2023 conference invites proposals for the Workshop Program. Members of all segments of the community are encouraged to submit workshop proposals for review. The workshop program is intended to complement the formal technical program of the main conference and to support more in-depth interactions. Workshops can vary in length from half a day to a full day. The format of workshops will be determined by their organizers.
The proposals should be no longer than 2 pages. Please submit your workshop proposal by email to email@example.com (Subject: SSCTIC'23 Workshop Proposal). Please feel free to contact us if you hace any questions.
The SSCt2023 Doctoral Consortium (DC) will take place as part of SSCt2023 virtually. It is designed to nurture PhD candidates by providing them with opportunities to explore and obtain mutual feedback on their research, future work plans, and career objectives with senior researchers, practitioners, and peers. We invite submissions from students, as described below. Selected students will be asked to prepare and present an oral presentation at the DC. Additional social arrangements will be arranged to encourage further conversations with mentors and fellow students, in a teleconference setting.
We encourage participation from all PhD students, whether at the start or towards the end of their PhD candidacy. Participants need to clearly indicate their stage of PhD research. Those who are at the early to midpoint stage of their candidacy and who have not yet received substantial feedback from the greater research community will be paired with a mentor who will advise them on their research trajectory, writing and presentation. Those who are at a later stage in their research will have an opportunity to present their PhD work to date to a group of senior researchers for feedback and advice.
Authors should consult Springer’s authors’ guidelines and use their proceedings templates, either for LaTeX or for Word, for the preparation of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers. In addition, the corresponding author of each paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form. The corresponding author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper. Once the files have been sent to Springer, changes relating to the authorship of the papers cannot be made.
The maximum length of the papers is 12 pages, including figures and references.
Microsoft Word Format
Microsoft Word 2003 Format
All proposed papers must be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) using the SSCt 2023 conference management system.
For a paper to appear in the proceedings, at least one of the authors must register for the conference by the camera-ready copy deadline. Papers must be presented by one of the authors at the conference live.
