Call For Papers

== Call for Papers ==

The Blockchain Forum invites submissions of papers on both techniques for and applications of blockchains, DLTs, and related technologies. Papers should have relevance for contemporary organisations such as government, enterprises, healthcare, etc. We encourage contributions from both inside and outside the BPM community alike—the emphasis is on relevance for organisations, not membership of a community. Contributions of conceptual, technical and application-oriented natures are all welcome.

A blockchain is a distributed data structure providing guarantees of immutability and integrity protection, providing a practical solution to hard problems in coordination. Blockchain-based systems open up diverse opportunities in the context of the BPM lifecycle to redesign business activities in a wide range of fields, including healthcare, supply chain, logistics, and finance. However, these opportunities come with challenges to security and privacy, and to scalability and performance.

Blockchain technology has already seen both academic interest and practical adoption, and several approaches exist which combine BPM and blockchain, e.g., blockchain-based execution of DMN decisions, collaborative business process execution on blockchain, and the use of process mining to analyse and validate smart contracts.

The Blockchain Forum provides a platform for discussion and introduction of new ideas related to research directions within techniques for and applications of blockchain and DLT. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:

- Modelling paradigms for blockchain-based information systems
- User-friendly specification and monitoring of smart contracts
- Synthesis of smart contracts from high-level specifications of business collaborations
- Process mining-based analysis of blockchain systems and blockchain applications
- Verification and validation of blockchain-based collaborative information systems
- Enforcing regulations and business rules with smart contracts
- Collaborative business process optimisation on blockchains
- Privacy models for blockchain-based collaborative information systems
- Data provenance in blockchain-based cooperative processes
- Security requirements engineering for blockchain-based collaborative information systems
- Data management in blockchain-based information systems
- Process auditing on blockchains
- Integration of ubiquitous computing and blockchains for process monitoring
- Novel paradigms for process design utilising the blockchain
- Novel paradigms for information systems design utilising the blockchain
- Linking blockchain platform properties with business and compliance goals
- Novel business collaboration models enabled by blockchain
- Blockchain and ethical business practices
- Inter-organisational, cross-chain communications among parties in a collaborative process
- Vertical applications of blockchain-based collaborative information systems (e.g. healthcare, supply chain, finance, logistics)

The format of the forum will emphasise interaction and discussion. Talks are expected to foster discussions and aimed at exchanging experiences and ideas.

== Paper submission ==

Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished papers within the topics of the forum. Papers must be written in English and cannot be simultaneously submitted to other journals or conferences. Submissions must be prepared according to the format of Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) specified by Springer. The title page must contain a short abstract and a list of keywords, preferably inspired by the list of topics above.
