CALL FOR PAPERS - SAM 2022 – SPECIAL SESSION
IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop June 20-23, 2022 – Trondheim, Norway https://attend.ieee.org/sam-2022/ We kindly invite you to send your contribution to the special session: Sensor Processing in Biomedical Applications This special session aims to attract and encourage researchers to submit novel and high-quality research and to open a proactive debate on problems involving the processing of biomedical signals from raw data to the semantic interpretation of results, pointing out the latest trends in the research on sensors and algorithms. The special session will focus on the analysis of problems concerning the link between data acquisition, processing, and the explanation of inference results. Particularly appreciated will be contributions on graph signal processing and deep neural networks, being tools that play every day an increasingly important role in the analysis of biological signals. Graph signal processing (GSP) with its methods can be used in several application areas: in the biomedical field, wherever we have a system with a network structure, such as the human brain and biological network. However, this technique requires optimization in terms of graph structure definitions, its representation and sampling. In recent decades, deep learning and optimization approaches have become popular methods for solving complicated time series analysis problems in the biomedical field. However, deep neural network algorithms are often perceived as black boxes without any explanation about the final decision process. In this context, explainable deep learning techniques aim to explain and interpret the results, predictions, decisions, and recommendations automatically obtained by the models in order to create more understandable and transparent decisions. In the medical application, such additional understanding coupled with the increased availability of medical/clinical data acquired from sensors through techniques in the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm, and with recent advances in data fusion and data augmentation techniques that can integrate data from multiple sources and generate synthetic samples, could play a significant role in supporting physicians in their human decision making. The topics of interest will include but will be not limited to: • DNN on biomedical time series analyses • Explainable DNN from personalized medicine • Multimodal DNN for biomedical data fusion • Graph representation and sampling • Graph filters design and application • Graph signal processing for biomedical application Special Session Organizers Mario Merone, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, m.merone@unicampus.it Anna Sabatini, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, a.sabatini@unicampus.it Dates Special Session Paper Submission Deadline: March 23rd, 2022 Notification of Acceptance: April 27th, 2022 Final-Manuscript Submission Deadline: May 11th, 2022 Early-Registration Deadline: May 18th, 2022 Event: June 20-23, 2022 Submission https://attend.ieee.org/sam-2022/submission/ |
