Call For Papers

Cybersecurity has gained enormous importance and
attention in politics, business and the public in recent years.
The diffusion of information and communication technology
into everyday life and the daily reporting of vulnerabilities
and security incidents have made politicians, organizations,
citizens and consumers more aware of the risks and
vulnerability of trade secrets. In addition, data protection
regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation,
provide a framework for the processing of so-called personal
data and thus for citizens' needs for privacy.

Security and data protection are thus increasingly becoming
the focus of attention for many stakeholders, who are faced
with the challenge of, on the one hand, not completely slow
down the opportunities created by new technologies
through (over-)regulation and, on the other hand, ensuring
appropriate implementation of security and data protection
measures in order to protect trade secrets and the need of
natural persons for privacy. In this respect, the appropriate
implementation of security and data protection
requirements, taking into account the opportunities and risks
of new technologies, requires a holistic view from the
perspective of computer science, law and economics. The
privacy and security at large workshop aims to encourage
this holistic view and to enable the various stakeholders to
exchange ideas.

The following topics will be the focus of the workshop:
- Legal, technical and economic aspects of anonymization
- Legal, technical and economic aspects of data protection
- Legal, technical and economic aspects of IT security
- Organization and operationalization of data protection and
IT security
- Cost-benefit aspects of data privacy and IT security
- Security and data protection for smart cities (e.g., in
connected vehicles)
- Security and data protection in Big Data and AI applications
- Verification of data privacy and IT security.
The planned workshop is interdisciplinary in nature. In
addition to technical aspects, legal, economic and business
informatic aspects of the above-mentioned topics will be
discussed.

The workshop is organized by:
Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology (SIT)
Rheinstraße 75, 64295 Darmstadt
Dr. Annika Selzer

University of Trier
Universitätsring 15, 54296 Trier
Prof. Dr. Ingo J. Timm

Short papers (max. 6 pages including all appendices) as well
as full papers (max. 12 pages including all appendices) can be
submitted on the above topics.

Accepted papers will be published in the conference
proceedings. At least one author is expected to present the
accepted paper during the workshop.

The templates to be used for submission can be found at:
https://gi.de/service/publikationen/lni.

The proceedings are expected to be available digitally only.

The program committee welcomes papers that address
