Call For Papers

Oil, Gas & Energy Law intelligence (OGEL, ISSN 1875-418X, invites submissions for a Special issue focusing on the "EU 'Fit for 55' legislative package".

The editors for this issue are Prof. Leigh Hancher and Prof. Kim Talus (contact info on the OGEL website).

As part of the European Green Deal, the EU has set itself a binding target of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This requires current greenhouse gas emission levels to drop substantially in the next decades. In order to achieve this, the EU is currently working on the revision of its climate, energy and transport-related legislation under the so-called 'Fit for 55 package' in order to align current laws with the 2030 and 2050 ambitions. 'Fit for 55' refers to the at least 55% emission reduction target which the EU has set for 2030.

The package includes a wide range of new and amended EU law instrument with a common goal: meeting the 55% target by 2030.

This OGEL Special Issue seeks to provide information on the new 'Fit for 55 package'. We encourage submission of relevant papers, studies, and brief comments on various aspects of this subject. These may relate to individual new or amended regulations and directives or more over arching topics around the new package. Even comparative law approaches to the topic are welcomed.

Papers should be submitted by the end of November 2021 to:

The minimum word count of articles should be 5000 words (excluding footnotes, endnotes, appendices, tables, summary etc.). Articles should include summaries (150-200 words). The layout of the articles should conform to OGEL's submission guidelines available at: (more information available upon request).

Feel free to forward this call for papers to colleagues who may be interested in contributing to the special issue.
