VTDC 2011 CALL FOR PAPERS
=========================

The 5th International Workshop on
Virtualization Technologies in Distributed Computing
http://www.grid-appliance.org/wiki/index.php/VTDC11
San Jose, CA.

(Held in conjunction with HPDC 2011 -- the International Symposium
on High Performance Distributed Computing)

IMPORTANT DATES
===============
Submission deadline: February 4, 2011
Camera-ready version: March 1, 2011
Workshop: June 8, 2011

AIMS AND SCOPE
===============
The convergence of virtualization technologies and distributed computing is an
exciting development and the subject of much research in both academia and
industry. VTDC 2011 builds upon highly successful and well attended series
of VTDC workshops. This 5th edition will continue to be a forum for the exchange
of ideas and experiences on the use of virtualization technologies in
distributed computing, the challenges and opportunities offered by the development
of virtual systems themselves, as well as case studies of applications
of virtualization.

The scope of "virtualization technologies" includes techniques and concepts to
enable virtual machines, virtual networks, virtual data, virtual storage,
virtual applications and virtual instruments. The scope of "distributed
computing" includes Grid-computing, cluster computing, peer-to- peer computing
and mobile computing.

VTDC 2011 topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
- Virtualization in data centers
- Virtualization for resource management and QoS assurance
- Security aspects of using virtualization in a distributed environment
- Virtual networks
- Virtual data, storage as a service
- Fault tolerance in virtualized environments
- Virtualization in P2P systems
- Virtualization-based adaptive/autonomic systems
- The creation and management of environments/appliances
- Virtualization technologies
- Performance modeling (applications and systems)
- Virtualization techniques for energy/thermal management
- Case studies of applications on IaaS platforms
- Deployment studies of virtualization technologies
- Tools relevant to virtualization

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
=====================
VTDC'11 invites authors to submit original and unpublished work. Submitted
papers should be limited to 8 pages (including tables, images, and references)
and formatted according to the ACM SIGS Style
(http://www.acm.org/publications/instructions_for_proceedings_volumes).
Document templates can be found at
http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates. Only pdf format is
accepted. All papers will receive at least three reviews. Submission implies
the willingness of at least one of the authors to register for the workshop and
present the paper. To submit a paper for VTDC 2011, please use the EasyChair
