Multicell Cooperation for Next Generation Communication Systems
Call for Papers With proliferation of communication devices and the ever increasing demand for higher data rates, interference issue will be expected to be paramount in the next generation communication systems. Multicell cooperation is a new communication paradigm promising significant system capacity targeting intercell interference elimination. It has been shown recently that, with the aid of multicell cooperation, a significant improvement of cellular systems' performance can be achieved and the increase in throughput can be as large as an order of magnitude. In view of the tremendous potential advantages of the technology, multicell cooperation is being adopted in various communication standards, such as 3GPP LTE-Advanced and IEEE 802.16m, as effective means to improve the coverage of high data rate services and to increase the system throughput. Although the advantages of multicell cooperation have been demonstrated, many more problems related to developing practical and effective schemes have emerged and remain open and have attracted considerable research attentions in both academia and industry. Therefore, in this special issue, we solicit papers presenting original and unpublished work on the topics related to this subject. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: Transmission schemes for multicell cooperation CoMP in LTE-advanced Resource allocation and power control for cooperative communications Network MIMO Distributed antenna systems Cooperation in homogeneous and heterogeneous networks Cooperative or coordinated beamforming Coordinated interference management Multicell cooperation architecture and protocol design Backhaul issues in multicell cooperation Standardization and regulatory aspects and activities Energy-efficient communication in multicell cooperation System capacity, outage probability, performance analysis, and optimization Experimental testbeds and field trail results Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/wcn/guidelines.html. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable: Manuscript Due June 15, 2011 (Extended to June 30) First Round of Reviews September 15, 2011 Publication Date December 15, 2011 Lead Guest Editor Zander Zhongding Lei, Institute for Infocomm Research, Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore Guest Editors Lie-Liang Yang, School of Electronics and Computer Science, University of Southampton, Southampton SO17 1BJ, UK Charlie Jianzhong Zhang, Samsung Telecom America, Dallas, TX, USA Jeff Xiangyang Zhuang, Motorola, Chicago, IL, USA |
