Scope:
The 5th Generation (5G) mobile network, which has been released recently and is still under development in many countries, is one of the candidate technologies to be employed for vehicular networks. The new features of 5G New Radio (NR) and its capability to support different use–cases make it a proper choice for vehicular networks. V2X communication including Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Network (V2N) or Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), and Vehicle-to-Pedestrian (V2P) provides safety for road users and is one of the key enablers of autonomous driving. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has standardized the 5G-based V2X for the first time in its release 16. Further enhancements on 5G-V2X are under discussion for the next 3GPP releases to support broader use-cases with higher reliability, lower latency, and lower power consumption requirements. The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) is also a cross-industry organization of automotive and ICT companies that actively contribute to the development and definition of future vehicular networks. There is also significant research activities for the development of V2X communication such as the Crash Avoidance Metrics Partners (CAMP) consortium, the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium, etc. Several concepts and features, namely Artificial Intelligent (AI)-enabled vehicular networks, mmWave and terahertz for V2X communication, precise positioning for V2X, and green V2X communication are foreseen as viable enablers for the emerging use–cases in vehicular networks beyond 5G.
This workshop aims to bring together vehicular communication experts in academia and industry to share their findings and discuss the breakthroughs. Consequently, it is believed that this Workshop can provide a better insight into vehicular communication and its use–cases beyond 5G.
The potential topics include, but are not limited to:
• Spectrum management and radio resource allocation techniques for 5G-V2X
• Energy efficiency and green communications in 5G-V2X
• Channel sounding and measurement techniques for mmWave and Terahertz in 5G-V2X
• Precise positioning techniques and their applications for 5G-V2X
• Coverage enhancement and QoS provisioning for V2X in 5G and beyond
• Standardizations, experimental studies, testbeds, and performance evaluation of 5G-V2X
• AI-enabled networking, and application of machine learning for V2X in 5G and beyond
