AUBH E-Learning Conference 2021: Innovative Learning and Teaching: Lessons from COVID-19
May 24th – 26th, 2021 – Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain

You are cordially invited to submit your research papers for presentation at AUBH E-Learning Conference 2021: Innovative Learning and Teaching: Lessons from COVID-19, that will take place on May 24th – 26th, 2021 in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This three-day conference, hosted by the American University of Bahrain, provides an opportunity for academicians and professionals from various educational fields to share their theoretical knowledge, research findings and educational practices with their colleagues and academic community.

Submission Types:
This section provides information about the types of submissions invited for consideration.

Academic Research Papers
Papers should address one of the topics listed in the call for papers and can describe a wide range of research including empirical or theoretical studies. In addition, philosophical papers presenting an argument and papers presenting a process that has been developed and is now ready for wider use are welcome. In all cases, concepts and underlying principles should be emphasized, with enough background information to orient any reader who is not a specialist in the subject area. The work should not have been published elsewhere and should not be intended to be published elsewhere during the review period.

Graduate Research
Graduates are invited to submit papers describing their research. To be eligible, the work must be that of the graduate student and it is necessary for the paper to be produced to a publishable academic standard. Graduates’ supervisors may be co-authors, but the graduate student must be the lead author and must present the paper at the conference. Graduate research papers will be subject to the same criteria and processes as research papers.

Case Study Submission
Case study submissions should be written to publishable standards. Case studies will be subject to the same criteria and processes as research papers.

Non-Academic Contributions
The conference committee welcomes contributions from individuals and organizations working in the field. These contributions can take the form of a presentation or a demonstration. In the first instance, an abstract should be submitted describing the work to be presented. If the abstract is selected, you will be asked whether you wish to produce a paper or just give a presentation. You will need to register for the conference to have a confirmed timetabled slot.

Position Papers/ Work in Progress
Researchers are invited to submit current projects which are either at the proposal stage or are work in progress. In the first instance, you submit an extended abstract describing the project. If your abstract is selected, you will be given the choice of producing a short paper with a presentation or an extended abstract only with a presentation. If you opt for a paper, it should be a maximum of 2500 words including the abstract, keywords and references. The paper will be double-blind peer reviewed and if accepted, it will be published in the conference proceedings.

Creative Teaching Competition
Faculty members are invited to share creative teaching and/or assessment methods used in their virtual classrooms. Submitted proposals will be shortlisted by an independent jury of teaching and learning experts before the conference, and participants will be asked to deliver a short presentation during this session. Presenters will have 10-15 minutes to demonstrate and discuss their innovative solutions to the audience. The jury will then make a final judgment and select the winner of the AUBH Creative Teaching Competition.

Interested faculty members need to submit the following:

A short description of the activity/method, explaining how it was used, what makes it unique and indicators of its success (no more than 1000 words).
Supporting documents, such as a lesson plan, exercise sheets, faculty manual/instructions, or marking scheme/rubric.
Submitting an Extended Abstract:
It is required to submit an extended abstract describing the proposed paper or work in progress. Extended abstracts should be between 500-1000 words. Please download the Abstract Submission Template that explains the requirements in detail. During the abstract selection process, the following 12 points are used as a guide. We strongly recommend that you ensure your abstract satisfies these points.

Does the abstract capture the interest of potential readers of the paper?
Is the abstract well written in terms of language, grammar, etc.?
Does the abstract engage readers by telling them what the paper is about and why they should read it?
Does the abstract title describe the subject being written about?
Does the abstract make a clear statement of the topic of the paper and the research question(s)?
Does the abstract say how the research was/is being undertaken?
Does the abstract indicate the value of the findings and to whom they will be of use?
Does the abstract describe the work to be discussed in the paper?
Does the abstract give a concise summary of the findings?
Does the abstract conform to the word limit of 500-1000 words?
Does the abstract have between 5 and 7 keywords or phrases that closely reflect the content of the paper?
Should the abstract be accepted?
Abstract Submission Deadline: March 18th, 2021

Submitting a Paper:
You will receive an email telling you that your abstract has been selected for submission as a paper. This email will confirm the date by which you must submit your full paper. Please note that this is a FINAL date. Early submission is encouraged as it helps us to manage the review process in a timely manner. Below is a summary of what you need to consider when submitting your full paper, but please also download the Paper Template that explains the requirements in detail. Papers not conforming to the conference style will be returned.

Papers must not exceed 4000 words in length (2500 words for work in progress papers), including the abstract, figures, references and appendices for a total of 6 pages.
References should follow the APA referencing style
Before submitting your paper, please ensure that it has been carefully read for typographical and grammatical errors. Papers will be returned if the standard of English is not considered to be adequate for publication.
Papers must not be sent in PDF format and should not be zipped. Papers should be submitted as a .doc or .rtf attachment by email to the conference manager. This is the person who sent you the email accepting your abstract. The email address is also given on the conference call for papers.
All papers received by the due date will have all identification information of the authors removed and will be sent for double-blind peer review.
Paper Submission Deadline: April 29th, 2021

Double-Blind Paper Review: All papers will be reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers.

Conference Proceedings:
The proceedings of the conference will be published by SSRN.
