Call For Papers

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change actions, including communications, discourse, and practical approaches, lag behind the natural phenomena of climate change. We look for evidence of actions and the current state of the art of fighting climate change in the energy industry. Empirical studies that analyze communications, discourse, but also social or human-centered approaches in the energy sector such as gamification, information systems, e-learning, safety culture, participation, and empowerment are invited to be submitted to this Special Issue. Furthermore, we welcome empirical studies that use novel computational approaches employing data visualization, text mining, machine learning, natural language processing, computational frame analysis, and artificial intelligence to address the topic of climate change in relation to energy consumption, distribution, and production as it is reflected and represented in mass media, corporate media, and social and alternative media. We are also interested in empirical and theoretical approaches regarding the issues of climate change and energy using sustainable information system development approaches such as sustainable human–computer interaction and sociotechnical systems design. Quantitative, qualitative, and design science research approaches as well as reviews, including systematic literature reviews, are welcome.

The aim of this Special Issue is to bring forth relevant studies on the topics formulated above to observe positive developments, to highlight the existing challenges, and to empower public and private stakeholders and involve them in climate change discourse, as well as in theoretical and practical solutions.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal as soon as they are accepted and will be listed together on the special issue website. All papers will be peer-reviewed.
