Call For Papers

In June 2011, leaders in the advanced wireless community will come together to explore the evolution of reconfigurable radio over the next several years. Reconfigurable radio technologies are becoming essential to support the requirements of the wireless market: network operators and wireless service providers in all market domains need to contain their capital and operational expenditures while supporting a proliferation of wireless standards and wireless end users, be they business travelers or first responders in a national emergency, are demanding radio technologies that allow them to communicate with whoever they need to, whenever they need to and wherever they are. This conference will explore these requirements across domains and present innovative solutions in development to address them.

Based on feedback from participants in last year’s event, this third annual conference will expand to include three tracks – one focused on SDR technologies, one focused on Cognitive Radio and Dynamic Spectrum Access technologies, and one focused on CR and SDR programs and requirements. The Wireless Innovation Forum invites you to submit a paper, presentation or tutorial abstract for any of these tracks on topic areas that include:

Software Defined Radio Technologies,including:
o RF Technology and Devices
o Baseband Signal Processing Technology and Devices
o Frameworks and Middleware
o Software Design
o Software Communications Architecture (SCA)
o Firmware and other IP
o Advanced Signal processing
o Waveforms
• Multimode Terminal and Infrastructure Design
• Standards for Reconfigurable Radio and Supporting Components
• Certification, Validation, Testing and Tools

Cognitive Radio Technologies, including:
o Cognitive engines
o Policy Ontology and Language
o Sensing and Awareness
o Spectrum Etiquettes
o Coexistence
o Spectrum and Resource Management
o White Space
o Regulatory considerations and Spectrum Policy

SDR and CR Programs, including:
o Commercial Wireless
o Defense
o Public Safety
o Satellite Communications
o Automotive
o Medical
o Emerging Markets
o Education in SDR and CR

Presentations will be 25 minutes in duration, including questions. Papers are optional at this event, but are strongly encouraged. Conference proceedings will be made available to attendees containing all presentation and tutorial materials and any associated papers. Proceedings will also be published online for future reference. Papers published in conference proceedings will be peer reviewed, and top papers for this event may be eligible for placement in a leading journal publication (details to be announced).

Submissions for SDR’11 – WInnComm – Europe are being processed by EDAS Conference Management System. If you have previously submitted a paper or abstract for other professional conferences, you probably already have an account on EDAS. If you do not have an account, create one at http://edas.info/ using your email address and a password. Then, go to http://edas.info/index.php?c=9527 click the “Submit Paper” tab and submit your abstract or proposal -- be sure to select up to three “Topics” that would be appropriate for your submission. An acknowledgment of your submission will be sent from EDAS, and a notice regarding acceptance of your submission will be sent based on the schedule to the right.

Proposals for presentations from national research and development programs across Europe are especially welcome.

Important Dates:
Abstracts due for papers, presentations and tutorials: 7 Jan 2011
Notification of abstract acceptance: 21 Feb 2011
Draft Papers Due: 8 Apr 2011
Paper Accepted Notification: 29 Apr 2011
Final Papers and Presentations Due: 20 May 2011
