The 28th IEEE Virtual Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering (SANER) https://saner2021.shidler.hawaii.edu March 9-12, 2021, originally planned at Honolulu, Hawaii. United States. This is a call for conference track papers and workshop proposals for the upcoming 28th IEEE Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering (SANER 2021) which is to be held on March 9-12, 2021, in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. Please see the Important Dates Section at the end for deadlines for all the tracks and the workshop proposals. SANER is the premier research conference on the theory and practice of recovering information from existing software and systems. It explores techniques and methods of extracting the many kinds of information that can be recovered from software, software engineering documents, and systems artifacts, and examines innovative ways of using this information in system evolution, maintenance, and program understanding. SANER promotes a discussion and interaction-oriented format, where attendees engage in in-depth technical discussions making thus SANER a unique venue in the are of software analysis, evolution and reengineering. The authors of the best SANER 2021 papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their work to be considered for full review in a special issue of the Journal of Empirical Software Engineering. # Technical Research Papers (Main Track) For the main technical track, we invite high quality submissions of papers describing original and unpublished research results. Submissions should not exceed 12 pages (the last 2 pages for references only). Papers should be submitted in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format via electronic submission at the conference submission site . SANER 2021 follows a full double-blind review process. We invite papers, on, but not limited to, the following topics: Software Analysis, Parsing, and Fact Extraction of multi-language systems Mining software repositories Empirical studies in software re-engineering, maintenance, and evolution Software architecture evolution Software maintenance and re-engineering economics Software Release Engineering, Continuous Integration and Delivery Evaluation and assessment of reverse engineering and re-engineering tools Software analysis and comprehension Education related issues Software visualization Analysis and evolution of Internetworked and IoT systems In addition to its main technical research paper track, SANER 2021 will feature an Early Research Achievements track, a Tool Demonstration track, a Reproducibility Studies and Negative Results track, an Industry paper track, and a Journal First track. During the first day of the venue, SANER 2021 will also feature X parallel workshops attracting attendees both from academia and industry. - Early Research Achievement Track Papers: The goal of the ERA track is to provide researchers and practitioners with a forum for presenting promising ideas in early stages of research. The ERA track is specifically looking for fresh, innovative, provocative ideas. - Tool Demonstration Track Papers: Tool demonstrations are expected to present tools that implement a research approach. Tools can range from mature prototypes to fully developed products that are being prepared for commercialization. - REproducibility Studies and NEgative Results (RENE) Track Papers: The RENE track encourages researchers to (1) reproduce results from previous papers and (2) publish studies with important and relevant negative or null results (results which fail to show an effect, yet demonstrate the research paths that did not pay off). - Industry Track Papers: Papers must discuss industrial practice and experience, describing problems (and their solutions) encountered in the evolution of industrial software applications. # Workshop Proposals We invite proposals for Workshops for SANER 2021. The proposals should be 1-2 pages long and should include the names/affiliations of the organizers, a description of the workshop area, bibliography of the area, the intended audience, the proposed format of the workshop and its anticipated impact. Please check the conference site for detailed submission instructions for each track. # IMPORTANT DATES Main Research Track Abstract submission deadline (optional): 15th October, 2020 Paper submission deadline: 22nd October, 2020 Notifications: 14th December 2020 Camera Ready: 12nd January 2021 Workshop Proposals Proposal submission deadline: 15th October, 2020 Notifications: 25th October, 2020 ERA Track Abstract submission deadline: 12nd November, 2020 Paper submission deadline: 19th November, 2020 Notifications: 14th December 2020 Camera Ready: 12nd January 2021 Tool Track and Industry Track Abstract submission deadline: 12nd November, 2020 Paper submission deadline: 19th November, 2020 Notifications: 14th December 2020 Camera Ready: 12nd January 2021 Journals First Track Submission: 20th November, 2020 Notification: 14th December 2020 RENE Track Abstract submission deadline: 12nd November, 2020 Paper submission deadline: 19th November, 2020 Notifications: 14th December 2020 Camera Ready: 12nd January 2021 |
