DELFI 2020-Workshop on the intersection of inclusion and (adaptive) educational technologies

Digital technologies and AI applications have the potential to improve equal access to all levels of education and training. However, educational realities often present a variety of challenges. This workshop invites researchers to explore the opportunities and practical challenges of digitally supported inclusive education and training. The workshop aims to present and discuss scientific contributions, best practices, and case studies from various projects that aim to remove barriers in diverse educational contexts and foster capacity building at an individual level. We welcome workshop contributions that represent related work in progress, innovative ideas for future research, hands-on experiences with the application of digital technologies and AI-based systems in related use cases as well as critical reflections on related topics.

The workshop Digitally supported inclusive practices in education and training takes place half-day on Monday, 14 September 2020, as part of a full-day event. It will be hosted in the second half of the day. For this workshop, authors are encouraged to submit research papers which will undergo peer review and will then be presented and discussed during the event.

The workshop will be held in conjunction with the DELFI-workshop Educational media technology and its inclusive potential. A multidisciplinary review of recent approaches in informal, formal and continuous education. That workshop will not allow for paper submissions but consist of invited formats such as keynote, breakout session, and panel discussion in the first half of the day.

***Topics of Interest***

We seek contributions including, but not limited to, the following topics:
• Cooperative learning in an individualized educational reality
• Conditions of successful EdTech application in inclusive education
• Learning methods for physically or mentally impaired persons
• Adaptivity of educational technologies to support inclusive education
• Novel mechanisms for adaptation of teaching /learning content (learning target and group-oriented)
• Participation of marginalized groups in EdTech Design and Development
• Ethical issues related to the use of AI applications for persons with disabilities
• Supporting marginalized groups beyond disabilities (i.e. social and cultural implications of EdTech)
• Meaning of educational cultures for inclusive or exclusive practices in adopting educational media technologies

***Submission Information***

We highly welcome contributions that represent work in progress, innovative ideas for future research, hands-on experiences with the application of digital technologies and AI-based systems in related use cases as well as critical reflections on related topics. It is possible to submit Full Papers (8-10 pages) or Short Papers (up to 5 pages). Submission of 2-4 pagers presenting early work and experiences as well as PhD research is also welcome. Please submit in English and use LNI format for your submissions.

It is planned to handle the anonymized workshop contributions via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dkfihudelfi2020). Submitted workshop contributions will be reviewed by the program committee. Accepted contributions will be published in the DELFI workshop proceedings after the conference.
