SCOPE AND OVERVIEW
__________________

Multi-device cooperation is an emerging research area that is potentiated by the large number of smart, wearable and IoT devices that proliferate every aspect of our daily lives. By detecting the multi-device context for harnessing collaborative and opportunistic resources in proximity, it is possible to reduce the cost of executing computational tasks in the constrained resources of smart devices, and to diffuse the presence of devices beyond their existing computing isolated behavior.

The impact of multi-device cooperation has also found many applications in everyday settings, for which they were not initially conceived, such as continuous multi-device experience for users, formation of multi-device computing infrastructures, multi-device cooperation through drones and multi-device autonomous interactions, among others. The goal of PerCrowd 2021 is to explore the impact of multi-device context to establish opportunistic cooperations between devices. More in detail, The goal of this workshop is to explore the use and effect of contexts on multi-device settings, whose computational behavior can be propagated within communities of devices for optimizing their energy and performance.

Original papers addressing theoretical, practical, and technical aspects of opportunistic and self-organizing multi-device systems are solicited. Papers describing prototype implementations and deployment of such applications and systems are particularly welcome. The submission of informative surveys of the state of the art as well as position papers on controversial issues is also encouraged. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

- Context-aware multi-device systems and applications, e.g., cross-device sensing, sampling, networking and computation
- Resource extension of pervasive and mobile applications, e.g., screen sharing, collaborative augmentation of resources
- Multi-device cooperations established through autonomous unmanned vehicles (UAVs or drones)
- Self-organizing multi-device groups, e.g., devices moving as a group
- Algorithms to reduce task complexity via collaborative multi-device groups
- Pervasive computing applications harnessing opportunistic multi-device contextual factors, e.g., location, proximity, underutilized times, etc.
- Usage models for multi-device computing, e.g., incentive models, stability models, decision making models, and privacy models.
- Users experiences towards multi-device systems and applications
- Socio economic models for multi-device computing, e.g., battery life cost, computation cost, storage cost, networking cost, etc.
- Infrastructure, architectures, and platforms for multi-device systems, as well as, emerging applications for multi-device environments.
- Integration of multi-device systems on the move with proximal infrastructure on the move, e.g., cloudlets
- Lessons and experiences of evaluating context-awareness for multi-device systems and applications

PAPER FORMAT AND SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
________________________________________

Papers should contain original material and not be previously published or currently under consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts must be limited to 6 pages in IEEE 8.5x11 conference format, and formatted in accordance with the IEEE Computer Society author guidelines.

Accepted papers will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press in the combined PerCom 2021 Workshop Proceedings and will appear on IEEE Xplore. At least one author of each accepted paper must register and attend the workshop to present the paper. There is no workshop-only registration. An oral presentation at the workshop is strictly required. Failure to present the paper at the workshop will result in the withdrawal of the paper from the Proceedings as well as from the IEEE Xplore.

EDITORIAL FOLLOWS-UPS
_______________

Extended versions of the selected workshop papers will be considered for possible fast track publication in well-known journals. Candidate journals are, e.g., IEEE Internet of Things Journal
