The LIDAR & RADAR 2011 symposium in Nanjing, China is the first time of this type of event on this active remote sensing subject in Asia. The conference is designed to promote the development and applications of LIDAR and radar mapping technologies in Asia, to meet the scientific, technical, and business needs of the photogrammetry and remote sensing, surveying and mapping, as well as geosciences, forestry, renewable energy, environment, transportation, and disaster management communities. Paper selections are based on abstract and full paper peer review. The excellent papers will be included in a post-conference SPIE Proceedings Volume (EI-indexed) to be published by November 2011. Papers from Chinese and international authors are invited, either as oral presentations or posters. A range of suggested session and paper topics is shown below, and proposals for full sessions on topics of particular interest are welcomed. Main Topics Sensors and Platforms * New lidar and radar sensor development * Radiometric and geometric correction methods * Sensor modeling, analysis, and calibration * New spaceborne and airborne SAR and InSAR systems * UAV lidar mapping systems * Mobile lidar mapping systems * Bathymetric lidar systems Data Processing Methodologies * Fusion of multi-sensor and multi-scale data * Direct georeferencing and lidar point cloud registration * Lidar point cloud segmentation * Integration of photogrammetry and lidar techniques * Object extracting algorithms and pattern recognition based on lidar data * 3D building reconstruction based on lidar data * 3D SAR: modeling, algorithms and experimental results * Multiangle, multipolarization, multifrequency SAR and InSAR * Inversion and information extraction techniques: despeckling, superresolution and segmentation of SAR images Innovative Applications * Coastal zone management * Coastal zone management * Forest inventory and vegetation analysis * Cultural heritage documentation * Landscape and architectural modeling * Renewable energy potential mapping (solar, wind, etc.) * Hazards mapping * Transportation infrastructure management * Environmental monitoring and impact assessment * Risk prevention and disaster management * Recent projects based on lidar and radar data |
