The 2010 Journalism Education Association of Australia conference will be hosted by the University of Technology, Sydney. The conference will include keynote plenary panels and streamed proffered paper sessions. Four keynote panels are currently being planned.

Themes

Streamed concurrent proffered sessions will enable academics, practitioners and senior postgraduate students to present 20-minute papers on any area of their current journalism/media research or approaches to journalism education. A prize of $500 will be awarded to the best paper presented by a higher degree research student as judged by a panel of peer reviewers.

Abstracts

The conference will accept papers on the basis of refereed abstracts or where necessary for accreditation purposes as fully refereed conference papers. Authors should indicate whether they will be submitting a full paper for peer review for inclusion in the conference proceedings to be published online in eJournalist. There may also be opportunities to present revised papers for formal peer review for publication in Australian Journalism Review or Asia Pacific Media Educator after the conference, at the discretion of the editors of these journals.

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words long and must include the name and contact details of the presenter, the names of other authors, affiliation details for all authors. Research abstracts should ideally be structured thus: background and aims; approach; outcomes; and conclusions.

Please indicate your availability to referee abstracts between July 25 and August 25 and/or to referee full papers between October 7 and November 14. Audiovisual presentations must be supplied on CD or flash drive.
All speakers must register for the conference.

June 8: Abstracts open
July 25 : Deadline for abstract proposals EXTENDED TO AUGUST 14
August 31: Notification of abstract acceptance
October 7: Deadline for full papers
