1st Workshop on
Aided Formalization of Business Rules and Policies
FoBuR'2010

http://www.ontorule-project.eu/dissemination/events/fobur2010
co-located with EKAW 2010

11th - 15th October, Lisbon, Portugal

In the Business Rules community and for the management of policies, many tools and methodologies are developed in order to assist the business users (e.g. Domain Experts, Business Analysts) in rules and policies formalization. The goal of this workshop is to draw the attention of the EKAW scientific community to this emerging research problem of which the business world is already aware. We will focus on two kinds of tools and methodologies aim at helping users in the formalization task:
1. Tools and methodologies for the acquisition of rules and models: some of these tools focus on (semi-)automatically identifying/extracting rules and models from textual policy documents but other sources of information can be exploited. In any case, it is of crucial importance to explicit the way acquisition is performed and to relate that methodology to the type of source that is exploited. It is also important to evaluate the proposed methodology.
2. Easy to use rules editors, that allow business users to edit and possibly update executable rules. Some of these tools rely on (controlled) natural language, which is an interesting option to consider.
This workshop aim to bring together researchers from the Knowledge Engineering and Acquisition community and experts of Business Rules and Policies.
