Extended versions of high quality manuscripts presented at the 3rd Mediterranean Conference on Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (MedPRAI 2019) are invited for potential publication in a Special Issue on “Advances in Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence” in Evolutionary Intelligence, scheduled for publication in the third quarter 2020. In addition to the selected papers from MedPRAI 2019, the special issue is open to all contributions covering the recent advancements in different areas of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence. A strict review procedure will be organized further for selected papers from MedPRAI 2019 to the special issue based on the following standards.

- Authors may submit extended versions of the conference paper, but they must have at least 70% new content.
- Quality and originality in theory and methodology of pattern recognition and artificial intelligence must be highlighted.
- There is a 16 page max length limit (inclusive of figures and tables) and must be prepared for publication according to the journal submission guidelines.
- Application oriented exhibiting originality with reasonable theory involved.

Submissions are invited in the following topics of interest: Statistical, structural and syntactic pattern recognition, neural networks, machine learning, data mining, graph-based techniques for pattern recognition, object recognition, signal analysis, image coding and processing, shape and texture analysis, computer vision, robotics, remote sensing, document processing, text and graphics recognition, digital libraries, speech recognition, music analysis, multimedia systems, natural language analysis, information retrieval, biometrics, biomedical pattern analysis and artificial intelligence.

Submission Procedure: Manuscripts should conform to the standard guidelines of the Evolutionary Intelligence. Instructions for formatting papers can be found on the journal website. Prospective authors should submit the electronic copy of their complete manuscript via the EM online submission system.

Important Dates
• Full paper due: April 20, 2020
• First notification: June 20, 2020
• Revised manuscript (for second review) due: July 20, 2020
• Acceptance notification: August 20, 2020
• Final manuscript due: October 20, 2020
• Publication of the special issue: 3rd Quarter of 2020 (tentative)
