Call For Papers

The editors of the bilingual internet magazine Forum of Poetics (published in Polish and English) invite all literary scholars to submit texts for the seventh issue.
This issue, to be titled “Micropoetics,” proposes to discuss contemporary methods for conducting detailed analyses of literary works. The old exegeses of holy books, reading according to the principles of traditional philological conscientiousness, hermeneutic faithfulness to texts, total structural analyses describing a work from the level of phonemes to that of models of the represented world, the principle of close reading, penetrating post-structuralist investigations into the dynamics of meaning-production, various models of micrological reading, analyses of description, unrelenting interpretation of the many layers of resonance in each document of the past examined through the lens of cultural poetics– these are only a few of the familiar tools in the arsenal of micropoetological reading.
What reason can there be in our day for deliberately choosing a short-sighted perspective for examining a literary work, and by what tactics can the danger of getting stuck within a mere formal analysis be overcome? What cognitive advantages can new micrologies and new forms of close reading bring? We encourage theoretical observations and practical inquiries from a multitude of areas, including: stylistics, versology, textology, translation studies, linguistics, comparative literature, and others. We would like to learn more about the reasons why contemporary readers continue to seek intimate knowledge of literary works and why new types of micropoetics continue to be created.

Once accepted, articles will be translated into English or Polish by qualified translators and published simultaneously in both languages. Please send your texts to one of the following addresses by 31 January 2017: forumpoetyki@gmail.com; forumofpoetics@gmail.com.
