Special Session on Intelligent Systems for Energy Efficiency

(at IFSA-EUSFLAT 2015, Gijon, Spain, http://www.softcomputing.es/ifsa-eusflat2015/)

Promoting energy efficiency and saving policies is a high priority objective in most countries. The European Union, for instance, aims at reducing building energy consumption by a 20% by 2020, and a 40% by 2030. A large amount of that consumption is due to residential and commercial buildings, which account for between 20% and 40% of the total. Recent research work in Energy Efficiency exploits the advantages of Intelligent System and Artificial Intelligence techniques, and particularly those focused on uncertainty management, to improve the performance of traditional controllers.
The overall purpose of these approaches is to optimize the required energy by different systems (e.g., lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) while maintaining the comfort. The objective of this special session is henceforth to bring together researchers interested in applying Artificial Intelligence techniques to the Energy Efficiency field. The session is open to contributions generated by researchers from related areas in order to promote interdisciplinary collaborations and cross-fertilization.

Topics:

- Modelling and analysis of energy data
- Intelligent automation and control systems
- Fault detection diagnosis and analysis
- Predictive energy consumption systems
- Uncertainty management on load forecasts, consumption data...
- Linguistic summarization of load forecasts, consumption data...
- Uncertainty modelling and management in BIMs
- Profiling of consumption time series
- User behaviour estimation
- Smart Buildings
