Cloud Computing is shaping the way that organizations acquire and use systems — software-as-a-service (SaaS) model — and how they develop and deploy systems — platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) models. This emerging computing paradigm is having a significant impact on the way modern software is designed, developed, deployed and governed. In particular, the scale and readily accessible nature of the Cloud opens new opportunities for designing and engineering service-based collaboration. That is, not only individual applications can be hosted on the virtual infrastructure, but also complete processes that require collaborations of multiple such systems. Even though cloud platforms and infrastructures are typically designed to scale on demand, the questions are (i) whether this automatic elasticity translates to all services deployed on them, and (ii) whether collaboration amongst the services on (multiple) Clouds be managed elastically. Other qualities of concern and interest in this environment include monitorability, manageability, privacy, security, availability and reliability.

Topics

PESOS 2015 forum seeks contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics related to design, development, deployment, use, and integration of software, human and collaborative services in the Cloud.

- Service engineering for elasticity, scalability, monitorability, and other attributes expected of Cloud-based services and collaboration processes

- Frameworks and architectures for service collaboration in the Cloud
Collaboration as services

- Elastic business process management in the Cloud

- Requirement engineering issues for Cloud-based collaborative services

- Methods and tools for design-time software engineering support for desired run-time collaboration behavior in the cloud

- Adaptation and evolution of collaborative Cloud services

- Service personalization and context-aware provisioning in the Cloud

- Service delivery models for mobile applications.

- Frameworks and programming model for IoT (Internet of Things) and IoE (Internet of Everything) services and their integration to Cloud

- Service dependability, survivability, reliability and resilience

- Trust, security, and privacy in Cloud-based services

- Quality of service (QoS), Service-level Agreements (SLAs) in the Cloud

- Verification and validation of service-oriented systems

- Migration to service-oriented systems in the Cloud

- Cloud requirements and design for growing markets.

In addition, PESOS 2015 will continue “The Quest for Case Studies.” Started at PESOS 2012 as a special session, the goal is to create the reference set of case studies for the research community in service-oriented systems.
