FOURTH INTERNATIONAL POSTGRADUATE CONFERENCE ON LANGUAGE AND COGNITION (ELC4)

4-6 February 2015

The Fourth International Postgraduate Conference on Language and Cognition (ELC4) will meet concurrently with the Fourth International Conference of Young Researchers on Anglophone Studies (ASYRAS 2015) from 4-6 February 2015, at the University of Vigo (Spain). ELC4 is organized under the auspices of the Research Network English Linguistics Circle (ELC) and the Department of English, French and German at the University of Vigo.

The combined conference is designed to provide postgraduate students from various fields with the opportunity to present their research in an informal and intellectually stimulating setting. As concerns the ELC4 Conference in particular, it will be held jointly with the linguistic panel of ASYRAS 4.

The deadline for all abstracts is 10 September 2014. Notification of acceptance/rejection will be by 15 October 2014.

Guidelines for submission of papers:

Papers for oral presentations (20 minutes + 10 minutes for discussion) are invited on all areas of language research, including grammar and morphosyntax, language change and historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, speech and language disorders, discourse analysis and pragmatics, lexicology and semantics, contrastive and corpus linguistics, and linguistics applied to the teaching and acquisition of first and second languages.

Presenters are required to be postgraduate students. For current purposes, postgraduate students include: a) students that have not completed their PhD before the conference; b) postdocs that have completed their PhD not earlier than July 2013.

Abstracts should not exceed 500 words (exclusive of bibliographical references) and should clearly state research questions, approach, method, data and (expected) results.
