Call For Papers

IWAMA – International Workshop of Advanced Manufacturing and Automation – has been a joint seminar between SFI Nor-man (SINTEF and NTNU) and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Manufacturing Automation and Robotics (Shanghai University) since 2010. It is expanded to a international workshop for academic and industrial experts in advanced manufacturing and automation and an annual event worldwide.
Manufacturing and automation has assumed paramount importance and are vital factors for the maintenance and improvement of the economy of a nation and the quality of life. The field of manufacturing and automation is advancing at a rapid pace and new technol-ogies are also emerging in the field. The challenges faced by today’s engineers are forcing them to keep on top of the emerging trends through continuous research and development.
IWAMA aims at providing a common platform for academics, researchers, practicing professionals and experts from industries to interact and discuss trends and advances in some areas of manufacturing and automation while sharing ideas and perspectives. IWAMA 2013 will focus on the field of Intelligent Manufacturing and Logistics areas as listed in the workshop topics, but is by no means limited to these.
Workshop topics
The workshop will mainly focus on the following topics in manufacturing engineering, but it is not limited:
 Intelligent diagnosis and prognosis systems
 Intelligent robotics and automation
 3D machine vision and quality inspection
 RFID system development and applications
 Intelligent Logistics
 Real Time Production planning and Control
 Lean Manufacturing (LM)
 Manufacturing Control in Supply Chains
Submission of papers
Authors are invited to submit their papers presenting the results of original research or innovative practical applications relevant to the workshop. The papers should be a maximum of 14 single-spaced pages, in English. The presentation at the workshop should be not exceed 20 minutes. Please see our website, www.sfinorman.com, for further authors instructions.
Papers will be peer reviewed and the workshop proceedings will be published in NTNU Engineering Series by Tapir Academic Press. Selected papers will be selected for publication in an expanded form in selected international journals, such as Advances in Mnufactruing and Journal of Intelligent manufacturing” indexed by EI or SCI.
At least one author per paper should register for the workshop by the early registration deadline (1 November 2013).
