Call For Papers

We would like to encourage you (and your co-workers) to send the paper for the following Special Issue on JCIT: Journal of Convergence Information Technology. The aim of the Open Source Software and Ubiquitous Systems special issue is to invite high-quality original research articles on the large field of open source software and ubiquitous systems. In this field, many researchers have contributed and disseminated many innovative and important new works of all aspects of open source software and ubiquitous systems with emphasis on human-computer interfaces, computing systems, software architectures, design tools and methodologies, educations, services, and applications.

The special issue invites the works on all aspects of the open source software and ubiquitous systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Open source and ubiquitous software architecture and platform
Open source and ubiquitous software design, testing, and verification and validation
Characteristics of open source software projects, products and processes
Case studies of ubiquitous and open source software projects, their participants and/or their development process
Programming languages and software engineering for ubiquitous and open source software systems
Design patterns of open source and ubiquitous software systems
Open source software system development tools
Human-computer interactions of ubiquitous systems
Ubiquitous real-time systems: including real-time related issues such as system software, parallel and distributed real-time systems, real-time kernels, middleware, task scheduling, multitasking design, etc.
Reconfigurable and reusable open source and ubiquitous software components
Open source and ubiquitous software design for signal processing, communication, multimedia, computer vision systems, and etc.
Legal issues of open source software systems
Education methodologies of ubiquitous and open source software systems
Open source software and ubiquitous system modeling and analysis for consumer electronics
Ubiquitous and open source software and processes research methods, tools, and data repositories
Emerging new topics: such as new challenges for next generation open source software and ubiquitous computing systems, arising from new technologies (e.g., mobile computing techniques, wireless grid computing), new applications (e.g., pervasive or ubiquitous computing, internet and web-service tools, vehicular technologies, embedded computer vision…), new principles (e.g., ubiquitous software engineering, open science and open knowledge), etc.

Submitted papers and software works should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All submissions will be reviewed for originality, significance, technical soundness, practical contribution, and clarity of reporting. Alongside publication of an accepted software work, we also encourage the authors to contribute and register their original source code or projects with OSSF (OSSF Supports Software Freedom, http://www.openfoundry.org/) and/or other established open source hosting sites, such as SourceForge, Savannah, BerliOS, Freshmeat, GNA, CPAN, etc. Our goal with SPT is, firstly, to recognize the authors of original software projects and, secondly, to allow others to improve on these projects and/or create their own works based upon them.
