Special Issue on
"Pervasive Sensing Technologies and Emerging Trends"

http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijdsn/si/519891/cfp/
-------------------------------------------------------------

Recent advances in pervasive sensor techniques, making a plethora of embedded platforms with computation, communication, and sensing capabilities available, have brought rich experiences to end users. A typical instance is the developments in the smartphone. Modern smartphones are equipped with a variety of sensors that can be applied to continuously monitor activities (e.g., behaviors), associated geographical information, and so on. Not only the sensors on frequently used mobile devices, a rapidly growing number of sensors around us (i.e., the physical world) but also makes it simple to gain understanding of users (the real living world of human beings as well). The era of pervasive sensor network has begun, which promises to enhance the awareness of the cyber, physical, and social contexts and thus provide essential supports, in forms of services, applications, and so forth, to our daily lives. In order to realize the full potential of pervasive sensor network (PSN), a diverse range of challenges remain existent and need emerging solutions.

This special issue calls for high-quality and state-of-the-art research issues and results regarding the pervasive sensing techniques and emerging trends. In particular, the special issue is going to showcase the most recent achievements and developments in the realm of pervasive sensor networks.

Original and research articles are solicited in all aspects including theoretical studies, practical applications, new communication technology, and experimental prototypes. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and selected on the basis of both their quality and their relevance to the theme of this special issue.
