Overall objectives of this book
This book intends to cross different perspectives on the value and the quality of information that can be found nowadays in different forms and media. Its project is structured in two main sections, as follows:

Part One focuses on theoretical approaches, mainly regarding the concepts of information, quality, value, technology-based documentation and communication, and the associated conceptual base. These first chapters will produce a deeper discussion about important concepts which were discussed over the last few years, resulting in a fragmented, dissociated approach by scholars. As a first relevant benefit of the proposed book, a conceptual base can be discovered by the interested reader, composing a solid and updated framework for further research studies.

In Part Two, practical and application-oriented issues such as criteria to promote quality by information retrieval systems design or definition of parameters to evaluate the flow and use of information in organizations are topics that will be developed. This second part will consequently lead to a practical, real-world observation, resulting in a consolidation of the conceptual base from an application point-of-view, allowing its desired connection to business scenarios issues such as:

- Information system design, application, and evolution.
- Media-related issues, such as information value and quality found in social networks and modern communication tools and techniques.
- Organizational process flow design, change, and development, considering information contribution.
- Business structuring considering information flow as an intervenient factor.

These editorial structures will allow the book to cover theoretical discussion as well as application issues, involving a broad range of topics on information quality and value.

Target audience
The proposed book is widely addressed, serving all interested readers who perceive how information is important for their studies and business projects. It will pertain mainly to information, technology, and management sciences readers, who intend to study, perceive, and apply information value and quality in their organizational projects and decisions. Also, it will be a reference for scholars and researchers who are studying informational issues.

This book can be used for undergraduate or postgraduate regular courses in areas such as Information Science, Computing Science, Information Management, Business Management, and information-related subjects such as Knowledge Management, Marketing Information Systems, and Market and Business Intelligence, among others. It can also be used for business-related post-graduation programs, such as MBAs, in subjects such as those suggested above, and also for business analysis and decision-making concerning information-based projects (such as B2C or B2B value aggregated chains). Finally, it can be used for researchers and research students as a relevant conceptual reference, as it will promote a deep conceptual discussion about information essentials and associated concepts.

Recommended topics
The book will approach value and quality of information, promoting a review of the conceptual base as a remarkably studied topic for several years, allowing also practical observation of these factors in applications for business processes, information systems design or reengineering, social networks-produced information processing, and other opportune research scenarios. As such, topics to be included in this book include, but are not limited to the following:

* Conceptual approaches of information value and quality.
* Contradictions, perceptions, and debates around the conceptual discussion of information value and quality.
* Relationship between information value and quality concepts and other fundamentals of information science topics.
* Aspects of information quality from theoretical and practical perspectives.
* Different approaches of value concept – financial, marketing, etc. – and its association to information related concepts – information system, technology, and management.
* Influence of information value and quality for organizational technological issues such as informational processes design, information systems project, communication flows, and others.
* Parameters and factors (indicators) to evaluate information value and quality.
* Processes and systems to evaluate information value and quality.
* Employee training and preparation to address informational value.
* Association of classic organizational quality definitions to the informational quality approach.
* Information value perception and function in modern integrative business chains.
