============================================================================================ CALL FOR PAPERS *** SPECIAL SESSION - Complex networks: data processing and log analysis *** 13th International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA) Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malay December 8-10, 2013 http://www.mirlabs.net/isda13 ============================================================================================ Rationale of the need and objective of the session ================================================== Modern applications like information systems, enterprise systems, e-commerce systems, e-learning or sensor networks, as well as monitoring applications and other systems produce a large amount of data. This data is usually stored as log file as various forms, from text-based data sources e.g. logs (pure text), through HTML, XML and other formats to semi-structured data sources, i.e. multimedia sources (images, audio or video files). The main issue being addressed by researchers within the log files process and the log information pre-processing fields is the manipulation of large amounts of data obtained from logs and their clear and understandable interpretation and visualisation. This suggests the need for the use of big data tools (Hadoop, MapReduce, Yahoo S4 etc.) and the development of data reduction procedures specialised in large-scale network manipulation and visualisation. Extraction of complex networks from log files and further network analysis then requires the usage of various data mining methods focused on areas such as for example data clustering or pattern mining. Complex network could be used also for visualisation. Session outline =============== The objective of this special session is to provide opportunity to researchers and practitioners to discuss interesting topics in complex networks and log mining area, to address the actual challenges and to share experiences and knowledge to tackle optimization issues of systems and applications from different perspectives. Proceedings =========== Like previous years, we expect the ISDA 2013 proceedings to be published by IEEE subject to fulfilling of all quality requirements of IEEE. It is mandatory at least an author registers for every paper that is included in the conference proceedings. Proceedings will be made available during the conference. It will be indexed in databases like Scopus. Specific topics of interest =========================== The special session topics of interest are focused on technics, approaches, system design, applications of existing technics to solve problems in log analysis sphere and complex networks analysis and visualisation. Recommended topics include but are not limited to the following: - Log analysis - Extraction patterns from log files - Business process mining - Sequence analysis - Analysis of user behaviour - Working with large log files and their pre-processing - Effective large complex network visualisation - Cloud data processing - GPU and MPI parallel data processing - Complex networks analysis - Web 2.0 and complex networks - Community structure analysis in networks - Generation of complex networks - Community detection in complex networks - Complex network mining - Dynamics and evolution patterns of complex networks - Applications of complex network analysis - Social networks, social network analysis - Big data and complex networks - Stream data and complex networks - Complex networks compression Papers must be submitted via the EasyChair conference system at https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?timeout=1;conf=isda13 Important Dates =============== Paper submission due: September 30, 2013 (extended) Notification of paper acceptance: October 20, 2013 (extended) Final manuscript due: November 05, 2013 (extended) Registration and full payment due: November 05, 2013 (extended) Reviewers panel =============== Milos Besta, Google, New York Jiří Dvorský, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic Nashwa Mamdouh El-Bendary, Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, Egypt Eyas El-Quwashme, Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan Aboul Ella Hassanien, Cairo University, Egypt Przemyslaw Kazienko, Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland Jan Martinovič, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic Petr Musilek, University of Alberta, Canada Suhail S.
