Special issue on "Speech Communication and its Related Technologies"

Speech sounds are crucial in human communication. Various spoken language
interfaces are being realized for the first time through advances in speech information
processing technology. Such progress underscores the value of speech communication
research and of essential technologies such as acoustical processing. The Acoustical
Society of Japan therefore is pleased to announce a special issue covering a wide
breadth of interests in speech communication. Submissions are open to non-members of
the Society as well. Contributions will be reviewed following procedures identical to
regular submissions. Clearly state "for the speech communication special issue" in your
correspondence to the editorial board.

This special issue encourages submissions in the areas including but not limited to the
following:
Speech Coding, Speech Analysis, Voice Activity Detection, Speech Enhancement,
Speech Production, Voice Quality Transformation, Speech Quality Assessment,
Emotional Perception, Paralanguage, Echo Cancellation, Sound Source Separation,
Sound Source Estimation, Directional Control, Language Learning, Speech Dialogs,
Speech Translation, Multi-modality, Speech Synthesis, Speech Recognition,
Speaker Identification
