Call For Papers

The University of Kent is holding its 3rd Undergraduate English Language & Linguistics Conference on May 5th 2012. Situated in Canterbury, the campus looks down onto the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Canterbury Cathedral, and the equally impressive new Marlowe Theatre.

We have confirmed Keynote speakers Professor Maggie Tallerman from Newcastle University, who specialises in the evolution of syntax and morphology, and authored ‘Understanding Syntax’. We are also pleased to welcome Professor Martin Conboy from The University of Sheffield, author of ‘Tabloid Britain’ and expert in journalism and media history.

Following our previous success, we invite papers written by Undergraduate students from all disciplines of English Language and Linguistics, which can be sent to ellsoc@kent.ac.uk, with a deadline of 27th February 2012.

So whether you wish to present a paper, or simply enjoy our conference in it’s beautiful surroundings, come to Canterbury, where we’ll be taking a fresh and slightly different look at the way the English Language is today.

Tickets cost £12 in advance (available from store.kent.ac.uk), which includes a buffet lunch.
