WEBTID: Web-based Tools for Interaction Design

Special track at ICIW 2017, June 25 - 29, 2017- Venice, Italy
The Twelfth International Conference on Internet and Web Applications and Services

The practice of Interaction Design may involve the use of various methodologies, processes, and techniques in every stage of the design cycle. Computer-based tools can support practitioners during ideation, analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation stages, as well as during management of the design cycle and communication between team members. For example, computer-based tools can be used during an ideation session to help participants create, search, associate, manipulate, and agree on a set of concepts to the used in the design of a product. In particular, cases where participants are not co-located, computer tools may help providing a shared virtual space between all participants and facilitate communication. Tools can also be used later in the design cycle, to gather usage data, e.g., through user-testing or through real-world usage, that allow the design to be improved in subsequent revisions. Computer-based tools used during interaction design may be specific to a given design technique or process, or more generic tools used also for other applications or in other day-to-day activities.

In this track, we are interested in web-based tools to support (part of) the interaction design cycle.
- Tools developed specifically for the purpose of aiding in a particular stage or method;
- Reports of reports about the usage of generic web-based tools and how they impacted in the design cycle;
- Reports that balance a technical description and an evaluation of those tools during the interaction design process;
- Reflections that show the specificities of using web technologies (differences to non-web-based tools, advantages, challenges).
